dog treeing question?

One of my Hounds well Streak I was watching him on the garmin he would get up on a tree and sit never bark but sit at that spot for a few min then get up zig zag a little come back to that spot and do the same thing. First time I have ever heard of this he was walk hunted before i got him so my question is that normal for a walk hunted hound or what?
He is about to turn 3 so I am confused last season he started treeing hard and always had a coon up. so can anyone help tell me whats going on

When the garmin says the dog is sitting it just means he is still. checkin the tree.

is his ears ok? if he has ear mites he might not bark up the tree cause it hurts there ears when they have ear trouble. he might just be checkin the tree to and not sure of him self.

That's the way a friend of mine hunts and he doesn't mind it now that he has a Garmin. The dog is four, has a beautiful tongue, moves a track and gives a locate. Then instead of circling, the dog goes 50 yards one way and comes back and 50 to 100 yards another way and comes back and so forth. My buddy just goes to all the X marks on the Garmin and looks for the coon. He says X marks the spot.

well he will tree normally but watching the garmin the other night i noticed something totally different that i had never seen so I was confused. he has showed me in a heavily populated coon woods he can get a coon each night in and in woods that have been hunted to death he has showed coons every time he has been alone and he will not open on a possum to save his life Thank God!!!

His ears are fine by the way

Could it be where i dont hunt them in between the seasons? and they have set for a few months

Alligators come out with a vengence around here in March and slack off some in October. I don't worry about it. I let young dogs started to running and had some fur in their mouth, set up and grow up and can't wait to see what they figured out in the mean time sitting around and growing up. But that is just me I'm sure.

It won't be long now to find out what I been feeding.LOL

I think a lot of dogs do really strange things out there hunting but you didn't know what they were really doing! That Garmin has shed some light on this for sure. It tells it like it is, not how you want it to be.

Anytime my dog is showing treed on the Garmin and isn't barking, I just assume it is doing something it shouldn't being doing. I give it a minute then push the button.
