The performance program works like this:
Any male Coonhound that has been DNA profiled is eligible. The fee to have this done is $100.00 if you have the dog nominated before January 1st of the nomination year. The fee goes to $200.00 on or after Jan 1st but before July 1 and $300.00 on or after July 1, but before December 31. When the sire is nominated, any litters that are born within the nomination year are eligible for nomination. Once a litter is nomination, then the pups from the litter are eligible for permanent nomination. When an eligible pup is permanently nominated, they are in the program for life whereas the sire must be paid up each year.
When the permanently nominated pups are entered into UKC licensed events, they will earn Performance points. The points earned are based on the number of dogs entered into any given category; registered, nite champion or grand nite champion. At the end of the year, you simply add the amount of money paid into the program for the year and divide it by the total number of pionts earned by Performance Program dogs for the year. This will give you a value for each point. The monies are paid out as follows: 10% to the Sire Owner 10% to the Litter Owner and 80% to the Dog Owner.
The payouts will be mailed from our office in early March of each year following the nomination year.
A performance year runs from January 1st thru December 31st. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask, or contact us for more information.

I do have one question. When a pup is permanantly nominated I understand that it is eligible to compete in the program and earn checks throught it's entire life.
The sire has to be paid up every year, but that's just for future litters right? I mean if a stud isn't paid up any more due to being too old etc, all his permanant performance pups would still be out there earning their money and he would still be getting his 10% from them wouldn't he?

Let's go huntin
UKC is introducing a “pay for performance points” program involving the best coonhound bloodlines in the world. Performance points can be earned at each and every UKC licensed nite hunt event.
What Coonhounds are Eligible:
UKC litter-registered Coonhounds sired by a “Performance Sire” nominated for the calendar year in which the pup was whelped, and whose litter was nominated. Dog must be permanently registered and permanent nomination completed before its twenty-fourth month of age.
Steps Involved:
Breed to a “Performance Sire”
Nominate the litter
Nominate the Individual dogs
Go to UKC Nite Hunt events to earn Performance Points
Who Benefits
Sire, litter and dog owners! Every single event counts. This should not be confused with a futurity. Permanently nominated dogs earn performance point money for the life of the dog.
How is the Money Paid Out?
Premium money is paid out at the end of each year based on Performance Program Points earned at UKC licensed Nite Hunts during that year. Each dog’s total payout is divided as follows:
10% to the owner of the “Performance Sire”
10% to the owner of the litter
80% to the owner
Note – first premium pay-out will be for points earned in 2005.
Performance Sire Owners
Adds value to your stud.
Helps attract more females for your stud.
Earns you 10% of his pups lifetime Performance Program earnings!
Litter Owners
Creates a larger market for your pups.
Increases each pup’s value.
Earns you 10% of nominated pups lifetime Performance Program earnings.
Dog Owners
Earns you 80% of the point value for every Performance Program Point!
Increases the value of your dog.
How to Earn Points
A placement in the top four Registered dogs, first place Nite Hunt Champion*, or first place Grand Nite Hunt Champion* will earn Performance Fund Points. At the end of the year, simply add the amount of money paid into the program for the year and divide it by the number of points earned by Performance Program dogs for the year. This will give you a value for each point.
* First and Second place points awarded at events with 21 or more NTCH or GRNTCH entrants. First, Second and Third place points awarded at events with 41 or more NTCH or GRNTCH entrants.

Rip, to answer your questions - the sire does need to be nominated yearly and that would make his pups for that given year eligible for nomination. Example: Sire is nominated for 2006; only litters born out of him in 2006 are eligible. He would have to be nominated again for 2007, 2008, etc for his litters from that year to be eligible.
However, regardless of whether a sire is nominated in future years does not affect the pups that are already permanently nominated. The sire does not have to be nominated in the year that the pup is competing and earning points, only in the year that the pup is born.
Hope this helps!

Cindy,
Thank you for your response. That's the way I thought it was and what seems to be implied in the articles I have read. However, I wanted to know for sure since I didn't see it explicitly in writing anywhere (not saying it isn't there just saying I didn't see or notice it).
Anyway, sounds great and once again I appreciate you answering the question for me.

cindy, does the owner of the dam have to perm reg the pups or can the new owner of that pup do it...
The owner of the dam has to nominate the litter before any pup can be permanently nominated.
Litter nomination by dam owner is 25.00 before litter reaches 6 months of age. There’s a section for this on the litter registration form.
Or 50.00 if done before litter reach’s 1yr old. But still has to be done by owner of the dam at time of breeding.
thank you
