If she only trees for 30 seconds, how do you know she has even treed a coon? Sometimes it takes me a few minutes to find the coon when my dog is treeing on the actual tree the coon is in so I could not imagine how hard it would be to find a coon "in the vicinity" of where the dog was treeing.

I

hate to tell ya but at darn near 2 I think it is going to be impossible to fix... You can't even catch her at a tree to tie her and shoot the coon down, at this point that isn't going to help much either.

Yeah, I competition hunt !! All Fall and Winter long.. My Blues compete with the local coon.. My Blues win a ton !!! We use and recommend MOONSHINER LIGHTS, Peggs , Ok.

Start in the yard and teach her to come to you when called, then call her back to the tree.

Question, is she gun shy, or just not wanting to be caught?

i'd try dropping one and see if she comes in for the kill ?

I wouldnt waist a coon for a problem like this. Killing a coon for having a bad habit is reinforcing the problem. One of us coonhunters #1 mistakes in training.
Stay close to her, if you get to her while she is treed and she has the coon then you decide wether you want to kill it(only if she earned it but I still wouldnt kill). If no killing tie the dog back at the tree then take a smoke, baccor, coffee break and let it tree. If it leaves run the dog down, mark the tree (area) best you can cut you a limb and sting it. Walk it back into the area and tell it to "get back on that tree" if it does tie it, shine and if it has it take a break (this isnt any time to kill the coon, it left the tree). Be constistant in what you do, this is one of those cases of letting the dog get away with anything and it may not commit and stay at any trees.
You will also want to have a connection with the dog. When I am correcting a dog (and it happens often instead of waisting coon) I want to make sure the dog understands why its getting corrected. If you dont think the dog understands why this is happening dont correct.
Good Luck have fun

disagree dog does not have the confidence to stay treed help build it help it kill one see if things change one coon is not going to make coon go extinct but might make light switch on this dog flip imo my best coon dog never even barked at his first tree hunted alone but jumped on tree several times looked up coon was there tied back shot out dead dog broke just like that he was 2years old at that time now 8 treed hundreds of coon 100-120 barks a minute a locate a kid could call and a real coondog no 2 dogs are the same what worked last time most likely not going to work this time just keep trying most people give up way to soon this dog had 5 different owners before he was 16 months old and was bought for a 150.00 paidup in everything has pkc money and first in ukc with limited hunts just goes to show it can be done!!! ps. working on a 2 yr old wipeout bred dog paid up and only a hundred bucks had 4 months and is making a nice dog go figure lol one man's junk is another man's treasure

I hope the dog comes out of it, but she may never. At almost 2 years old especially if she's been hunted alot and she's been doing it and still doing it, it will be a long road and alot of work to do on something you may never fix.
