My buddy, Steve Kelly says that they will not be available until mid July. I hope to have one in my hot little hands to field test for them. I have so wanted this product for several years now. I hunt three to four dogs by myself and get tired of "collaring" dogs.
Adios,
Gary

Here's a thread on the unit that was on here awhile back:
http://forums.ukcdogs.com/showthrea...hlight=sportdog

Basically the big issue for most who have used the Garmin is that the Sportdog unit does not have map card capability.

the map card could be a draw back, but he memory shouldn't be. who cares where your dog treed last night. i want to see where they are now, not yesterday.

People will buy them though I can't imagine why. They cost considerably more than a Garmin, they have fewer of the features that coonhunters want and you can put your TriTronics receiver on the Garmin strap giving you a combo that weighs the same as the Sportdog Combo. Carry the Combo in a UKC hunt and you are not only scratched but possibly barred (rule 20). Really, the system is a non-starter but people will buy them anyway.

I think once the bugs are worked out and the shine wears off the new invention, it would be something too have.. But them add a collars better come down some, or I'll stick with my Garmin..

With Garmin buying out Tritronics, I'll bet they will have something pretty cool on the market in a short time. I do like the idea of having one collar that performs two functions.
I still want to see what Sport Dog has to offer.
Adios,
Gary

I would have never beleived 25 yrs. ago when I started coonhunting and was chasing dogs with a switch as a trash breaker. And had an oil funnel stuck in my ear as a tracker, and a rope with a snap for a dog lead, and of course a handheld flashlight.... that coonhunting would have came this far.. LOL.. I have to admitt, a fellar sure can get a lot more turnouts in a night than we used too with this new technology.. :-)

Once again Jim, they missed your point. They are illegal in all registries. Maybe this is easier.........

Why would they be illegal?? as long as the handheld is in the truck or turned off???
