Opinion on these two tracking collars

I am getting ready to purchase a new tracking collar. I was thinking something along the lines of the Tracker Striker collar or the Wildlife 3190 model with the replaceable battery.

I will be using a Tracker Maxima 2000 with these collar

I was wanting the good and the bad of both. They are both are about same in price so that isn't a issue.

Thanks!

I'm currently using the Strike collar and haven't had any problems out of them.I just recently got to try out one of those new Marshall collars, they clearly offer more range than the Strike or Quick Track extended range collars when using my Tracker unit.If you have a place nearby that sells Marshall, try one, they sell for about $175 and use common AA batteries.

I've used both the Wildlife and Strike collars with my Tracker unit, and couldn't really notice a difference in performance.

My buddy has a Marshall system. It is a good system with lots range. His problem has been with his collars. Thay have two antennas, one for locating and the other for the tree switch. The tree switch antenna keeps breaking off. He has sent them off twice to get them fixed. Unless they have change them, I really don't want those kind of problems.

They've changed to a one antenna collar system now,i'm going to try one for awhile to see how it performs in the rough.

I bought a new Strike collar this past weekend at AO after hunting with a buddy for several months that has one. They give a good strong signal and seem to hold up pretty well too. The only thing that I see that I don't like about them is their antenna. It is a little twist of wires with a thick plastic coating, my buddies plastic got pulled off. He took tape and wrapped it, it still works as good as ever.

The only thing about the strike collar is that it is only 1000 hours instead of two. I use wildlife and I like them.

how is battery life with aa batteries in the marshall...???

Posted by Samhain on 09-04-2003 12:31 AM:

They're supposed to last about 30 days if the collar is left on all the time 24/7.I currently have 3 of the Tracker Strike collars and are satisfied with their quality and tracking results, thought i would try a Marshall to get a couple of extra miles of tracking power.

One more thing about the Tracker Strike collar,i've heard if you use the 2 small batteries instead of the 1 full size battery, you're supposed to get an extra 1/2 mile of tracking range.
