Have You Ever???

Have you ever FILED A FORMAL COMPLAINT in UKC?

If so, explain a little bit about what happened and what kind of action was taken?

I think this could be a good one after reading the "Been cheated... really???" thread.

yes i have

The MOH tried to throw out my score card because we had a cast member leave and he did not sign or were the boxes on the left of the card filled out. This would have knocked me out of second place in the NRCHA zone hunt. This is one of my favorite clubs to hunt out of also. So after a little discussion i filed my complaint the panel upheld the MOH'S decision. The master hounds and myself called Allen monday morning for clarification on the rule. Allen told him to give me money back because this was not a scratchable offence. The MOH is what i would call a friend but no one should let that stop them from filling a complaint.

I filed a complaint against a MOH for entering a dog he owned in the hunt. He had a handler hunting his dog. Both parties were aware this was against the rules prior to it happening. Another club member had even brought a dog for the handler to hunt, last minute he decided to enter the MOH's dog. This event was held under the MOH format, casts were drawn and casts were dispursing from the grounds when I asked for a complaint form.
MOH and his handler both lost they're cool and I left the building before it anymore out of hand.
Because of the ruckus over it, I never got a complaint form. I spoke with the President of the club and we tried to get a complaint form unsuccessfully so I filed a complaint directly with UKC the following day and followed up on Monday. First I was told it didn't constitute a "formal" complaint, just a "complaint against a club / or MOH". So I filed a misconduct because of the behavior that was displayed after the infraction was addressed.
UKC investigated it and revoked the MOH's UKC license.
Now 4 months later they've given it back. I still haven't found out why. I addressed it with TK and he referred me to Allen who just returned from vacation yesterday. I haven't been able to speak with him yet. I'd sure like to know they're reasoning as would the dozens of other hunters who witnessed this and thought it was long overdue. It has sure made me question the integrity of the whole process.

I questioned a scratch at the 08 UKC Semifinals but because of World Hunt rules, formal complaints weren't allowed. If they were, I would have won the complaint. I got an apology from UKC but that was it.

I sat on a formal complaint panel once at my former club where a handler filed a misconduct against another handler for unsportsmanlike behavior. It wasn't a fun thing to do, but it was the right thing to do. Handler was barred from UKC and the club for 1 year.

In the World hunt hunting judges are used the majority of the time. Why no formal complaints then? That's when the bacon's on the line and a lot of "true" colors come out!

J.C.,
I don't know for sure the reason, but i would guess the reason is that the MOH for the Zones is a UKC Field Rep. That may be the reason, along with the urgency to keep things going so the hunt gets in timely.

Everyone reads these two threads today, there will be alot of formal complaints filed around the country tonight, LOL. I can say I never filled one out, but our club had to fill one out during the day events and it ended up two or three meetings and one fellow being barred by UKC for three years. I agreed with him being barred but there were two others involved who got nothing. I felt they also should have been barred.

mcmillan, nobody gets barred off a Formal Complaint, atleast not that I have ever heard of. I think you are talking about a Misconduct Complaint, not a Formal Complaint. A FC doesn't infer any kind misconduct, it is just a disagreement about a judges call.

If a judge makes a bad call with the obvious intent for his dog to benefit, could this be a MC or only an FC, or both?

Snowgen, if you think the judges call was an outright attempt to cheat, you would file a Misconduct Complaint. If you thought the judge was just wrong, you vote/question it on the card/ present to the MOH/file a Formal Complaint.
