kemmer with rear double dewclaws?

I'm new to the kemmer cur stock, and not sure if this is typical. I have a six week old male kemmer and he has rear double dewclaws. Six toed on each leg, is this normal or will it hurt?

Dew Claws

According to the OMCBA Breed Standards (not sure about the KSBA), rear dew claws are a preferred trait. Now, having said that, if the second set are "floppy", without much structure, I'd have them removed and just leave the sturdier set.

Mark.

If your dog has a "floppy" set of dewclaws they are bad about catching on things in the wild and tearing. I, too, would vote to have them removed.

double dewclaws

I got him from steve crye a local hunter. He got the sire and dame from Robert Kimmer himself, he's only about hour and half away from the both of us. I don't know the actual pedigree, because: The address to send off for puppy papers was a guy in alabama that was band two years prior from the omcba. With that said a phone call was made to Robert Kimmer and he said "I bet your papers was burned as soon as he (guy in alabama) got them" out of spite. I don't care about pedigree, he's already wind treeing doritos that I was eating, I think he'll do just fine.

I do know there was probably five out eleven pups with double dewclaws. I may start hunting him and just see if they get in the way. Called a vet and they said after four or five days old has passed they have to put them under. So we'll see how effects him. Thanks for the advice, it's still an option.

"Alabama Guy"....

I'm betting that's a reference to Todd Gibson.......

I wouldn't doubt it one bit if he was. People that cause trouble in one organization usually repeat that behavior in other ones. Heck, I heard he was even kicked out of Iraq.

I hope that I didn't start something in this post. I don't know how much of what I heard is actually true. Maybe the owner of the sire and dame was feeding me a line of bull just to sell the pup? For what it's worth, i'm sorry to post something involving you negatively. Sincerely J Baker

It ain't no problem...don't even worry about it. If I can help you, I will. Just keep the pup in the woods and he should make you a dawg....

PS - Al, ain't you got a suspect somewhere that needs pistol whippin'?? ha ha
