Good website host?

Wondering what you guys would recommend as a new website host. We currently have 1and1.com hosting our website. Recently though we've been charged $99.86 a quarter for our website that was costing us $44.94 quarterly. Not willing to pay that anymore!

We don't want a website with a bunch of pop-ups or ad's on the page. Don't mind paying for it, but want a nice professional page for less than $50 a quarter.

Any suggestions? If you can, provide a website we can view that is hosted by your suggestion.

I've been using freewebs the last couple years, easy to work with once you catch on to it and I haven't had any problem with popups.

Used piczo before that, I didn't like it as much as freewebs but still a nice website host to use. Also get the odd popup with it.

m in the process of building mine on Angelfire.com It is free, the only ads are banner ads on it. I like it and like Autumn said, once you catch onto it, it's very easy to build. I use to have a very nice site on Yahoo. I paid 9.95 a month and it was ad free. The amount your paying, someone is getting rich and someone is getting raped! That is an awful price to pay!!!!

Yea,

I called and asked for a break-down of the billing today.
I knew it had gone up, from $24.95 to $44.94 last May becuase I upgraded to a business package that allowed unlimited pages and photo's. So I knew about that..

But since then, our account had Norton Security added (which we already have on our computers) for $5.99 month, something called SEO (no clue?) for $4.99 month, and an upgrade beyond the business package to a Builder Plus program for $9.99 a month.

So our total went from $44.94 quarterly to $44.94 twice each quarter. WHEW! I'll check out these you guys suggested tonight and see what we can do to get that down.

I'm in charge of the American Black and Tan Coonhound Association website and we're using http://www.justhost.com/. It runs about $50-75 a year and includes free domain name, unlimited GB's of transfer and a bunch of added features like that.

I have moderate web page building skills but I am able to use their free site builder software to get things looking like I want.

I've checked out several of these so far.
John D... do you know what, if any, the page limit or photo limit is on the premium package through justhost? I have e-mailed them asking, but was wondering if you knew.

We usually keep 20-28 pages on our website with every page having photo's and photo galleries on them. So we need a host that can support a minimum of 20 pages without additional fees involved.

Spoke with 1and1 again this afternoon...

Got our package back down to $44.94 starting July 27th, but have to cut some stuff out of our page to do so. Don't really like that. So still looking for a better option. Otherwise, have to cut down to 18 pages, and cut out some photo's before then.

So here's basically what we're wanting:

At least 2 domain names supported

Unlimited (or at least 30+) pages with no additional charge

Large capacity for photographs and graphics

No banner ads, pop-ups, or other ad's supported on our website

Under $50 quarterly

Want to keep our webpage address as www.ansfarms.net so that pretty much rules out free web hosters.

Looks like we will remain with 1and1 for the remaining part of the quarter and then switch to justhost.com

I asked them some questions yesterday after a member here suggested them. It's $8.95 for a comparable package to what we have now (monthly). And they will transfer our website over just as it is from our current host so I won't have to re-do everything! Also, we have two domain names, but only have one developed as a website right now. We can transfer both domain names over and keep them for free, instead of the $12.95 a yr. for each one we are paying now.

Unlimited pages to, so that's a plus!

So, unless something can beat that between now and July 27th when our renewal is up for the quarter, looks like that's the plan.

Sure appreciate all the help guys.

1 and 1 is BAD news. You should transfer your domains over ASAP and get them out of control of 1 and 1. I have known numerous people who had trouble getting their domains transfered from 1 and 1's control.
