Dog sick and I have a ?
I have a 2 yr old walker male that a week ago was as healthy as can be. A little history on him is he is a HARD going dog that is crazy intense hunter!! I took him hunting last week during a hard snow and he treed 3 coons and looked like himself. Then I took him a couple of nights later and he just wasnt himself. Noticed he wasnt firing off the lead and just wasnt acting right. He didnt want to lay down flat on his stomac and had discomfort if i squeezed his belly?? I layd him up for a couple of days and he didnt get any better so I took him to the vet and there treating him for pnemonia? He has a cough, His heart beats really hard and he isnt eating like he should.
Has anyone ever had a dog with pnemonia and what was there symptoms??
Oh, his white blood count is way up and he is not running a temp. Had a bag of feed that I fed out of for a couple of days in this time frame that I found out was bed! It had turned green (in the middle part of the bag) But im sure it was all bad. Told the vet about it and he didnt seem conserned about it at all. What was the symptoms of dogs that got the bad diamond?
Thanks

If the vet said he has OPneumonia, thent he dog probably does. If you do not believe the vet, take him for a second opinion at ANOTHER VET. There are a few Vets assistants that frequent the board, and I am sure they would tell you the same thing, take him to another vet if you don't agree with or trust the first vet's opinion.
Just know this, the longer you wait, the more that dog will suffer with his problem.

Chris...
.. not with dogs but with horses I've had bad food become pneumonia. If the feed becomes green in middle it is probably mold. Mold spores can be BREATHED in. Once in teh lungs they can cause lung things.
Hope your dog recovers quickly! Having them sick sux.....
Best of luck, Heather

Don't know about dogs with pneumonia, never had one with it. BUT I've had bad bronchitis myself and hurt all over just from the coughing.
Hope he gets better quick for you.

We had a local guy around here that's dog was dignosed with pneumonia and it turned out she had a stick lodged in her chest. I would spend the extra money and have them do an x-ray. It may be the feed that caused the sore belly. But the dogs that seem to hunt real hard always have funy things happen to them. Good luck and I hope your dog recovers quickly.

I have had dogs diagnosed with pneumonia 3 times. One time the pup had an internal infection from a foxtail and they said pneumonia was the result of it passing through his lungs. His belly didn't hurt, but he looked like he had hip and back problems after it passed through his lungs.
Another time the female had it and it cleared up after antibiotics. She got it again the next winter, but it was from an infection from a bobcat bite. The infection settled in her lungs and was misdiagnosed as a tumor. Long story short, our second opinion came after it was too late to do anything to save her.
I would say, if you have any doubts at all. Get a second opinion. I find myself getting a second opinion on darn near everything. Especially if if comes to the lung/chest area..
