Is having the finals in Georgia really that big of an impact in Indiana RQE entries?

when we have a rqe here in ihio and the world is down south the numbers are down si it's just not indiana

Have this same hunt in Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Missouri, or Kentucky and check out the numbers compared to this location. Lets wait and see, but betting they are way down this year. If you take the fun / enjoyment out of hunting why do it is what many are thinking! JMO!

I love hunting in the land of milk and honey. Georgia doesn't have a bad coon population. I like the way it bounces around from different locations. If you enjoy listening too a good dog work why would it matter where that's at.

World hunt

Nice answer Johnny Reb. The guys who have coon dogs will show up anywhere they have it period.

My opinion is that if that don't want to hunt in GA they are afraid of what their dogs are really like wanting quick an easy trees . No matter where it's at the dog that shows the most coons win period .

Lot of difference in Ohio and Georgia when it comes to terrain...they must be afraid of walking and having to actually climb a hill for once....always good hunting down here, if a dog is a top notch dog up north then it should be top notch in the mountains...a good dog is a good dog no matter where you hunt it...

back when we had a fur market many dogs that couldnt cut the mustard down south were sold to northern coonhunters . the culls thrived in the easy coon country and yanks couldnt get enough of them . the yanks bred the culls and this is the reason for the decline we see in our hounds of today . why anyone would want to get breeding stock from a dog from a type of country where you can tree as many or more coons with a rat terrier is beyond me . a world champ. that got it done in Ga. would be worth taking a look at .lol

UKC World Hunt

I'm probably not going to attempt the UKC World this year because the thought of hunting in the mountains in Sept. with heat and humidity does not sound like fun for a 68 year old hunter. I might draw great guide, but odds are against it.
Last year went to Peru, Ind. for the zone and won the first round. The second night drew Salamonie Reservoir south of Huntington. The reservoir had been flooded about 5 years before and all the timber was dead and on the ground with vines, weeds, briers grownup from the rich soil. Penney finished 3 tracks in 2 hours. One hour and 5 minutes on the first coon to end in a beaver hole on the edge of the reservoir and she ran it like she was tied to it. A big leafy tree was the second and a overflow tile was the third. No coon seen. If I recall the other 3 dogs didn't make a first tree in 2 hours and they were cast winners from the night before and one was from Oklahoma. I still haven't got all the sticktites off my overalls, so you can draw a hell hole anywhere.

Well a little trip down memory lane must be some truth to the Yankees buying culls lol me and a assosiate of mine for years would buy up dogs with wins just before autum oaks take them up there sell somtimes 10 or so head and there would be hundreds of 2 yrs old plus good blooded Yankee dogs for sale that never been to the woods. It wouldn't be just a little while we had very satisfied customers calling winning hunts some even got studded out those dogs down here were average at best lol. 300 acre corn patch no sweat piece of cake try a 300 acre green briar patch woods on one side swamp on the other you Yankee boys are spoiled I don't know why y'all are so scared of armadillos lol. Ohh if you if you keep cutting ole deep , babbling and alone down here it will break you of the habit.

Memory Lane

I was raised and hunted 30 miles North of Oklahoma at Rago, Ks and have hunted Oklahoma and Arkansas River. Greenbriar, prickly pear cautus and ragweeds were the norm. If you are packing a top dog the terrain and weather will not affect them. If your dog struggles then you probably only have a nice dog.

A local club just a few weeks ago had 15 hounds and no other major hunts anywhere around. I remember this same club having 70 plus hounds at this RQE. There are all kind of coon hunters in this area and they hit the hunts hard. There are a few factors, distance, cost, added time off work. A working man struggles with issues like this. We keep hearing Dillers keep people away, dont beleive that because when have traveld to these area's it seems more locals have the issues with the dillers, same as a grinner, just break them.

I aint sayen I like it lol !! It's all we got big deer boys took over a lot of private land they ain't very good at killing them deer everywhere they build high fences to keep them in and still can't kill them must be the refreshments the night before lol. Two years ago I decide I am going to go get me one from the time I sat down till the time I was dragging one out was 23 minutes.
