-- What age ? (http://forums.ukcdogs.com/showthread.php?threadid=928494103)
What age ?
At what age should a pup be hunting solo and treeing coons?
At what age should a pup be going and treeing with other hounds??
What age should a pup tree a caged coon ??
Age
IMO, that varies.
I've seen baseball players look great from ages 10 - 13, but once they reached high school they seemed to reach a talent plateau and fall by the wayside. On the opposite end of the spectrum, I've seen kids whom never showed much potential as youngsters but as they grew older did extremely well.
I look at dogs as athletes. Some start sooner than others, some get better as they get older and then some never quite make it. I'm no professional dog trainer by any means, but I tend to let the pup tell me when he's ready to advance past general obedience training.
Just my take.

If someone tells you to stop hunting with hounds, avoid them. You don't need that type of negativity in your life
Carson jones
His pups start real early, some as young as 3 months old.

Thanks carson
Okay here he is a 6 months old Redbone. Never been to the woods with another hound, only hunted by himself, ran track at 5 months old and treed his first Coon by himself at 6 months 5 days old. Not one time have I turned one out, drug one, or hung one up.Has treed 3 so far and is 6 months 8 days old. Seems like a decent hound. Only time will tell.
Well I tried to post a picture of him but couldn’t get it to work.
