Also found a dead coon on another farm as we'll, an seen a coon walking in the daylight last week as we'll!! Hope this isn't some kinda sign that there gonna be a big kill off!! Just wondering if any one has had similar experience this yr in va! Been finding dead coons!!

Man shot a real big coon in daytime. It started to chase him while walking in woods.

I have found 2 dead since January on 2 farms about 60 miles apart still treeing coons on one the other you cant strike a track
The coon walking in the afternoon is not uncommon when the moon is full and the temps are hot !! Have seen it a bunch but I have Seen 3 dead coons in the last 2 weeks for no apparent reason!! Not good northern va and all were decomposed like they had been dead a week are a little more !!! Not good and I know there's nowhere near thee coons here there were last fall!! I assumed a lot of smaller ones starved over the harsh winter we had but if that's so they should have died more than 2-3 weeks ago?????? Just started to see a decent pop after not shooting any here say the last 5-7 years and now there gone!!!!! I when I say decent pop I mean you could see 5-7 in a 3 mile stretch on the river if they were moving good are atleast laying up!!!! Nowhere near overpopulated !! And we have perfect habitat dens, water ,food etc.... Still not a lot of coons!!! Plenty of deer fox and opposums though !!!
Potomac that's how these where only dead a few weeks!! Hopping it's isolated to that area an it isn't distemper killing me!!! I've had another guy tell me that they had been seeing em in the daylight!! The coon pop is just getting descent here I hate to have a kill!!

I'm in southwest va, we have had the same problem, the coons have caught a distemper, it's not rabies, several showing up around town in the daytime staggering around, I work for animal control in my county and we have had several calls people thinking they got rabies but its not, it's a distemper, our county sent some off and had tested, this happened alot back in late fall, things seem a little better now than they were, hope this helps
