I live on the Michigan Ohio and Indiana border and the coon hunting is phenomenal. Over abundance of coons. I guided outta the Hamilton Indiana club for the world zones and we scored on 10 singles and only had dogs together on one coon so we spent probably half the hunt walking to split trees and shining

with all the deer hunters leasing all the farmground its not that easy anymore to get permission. alot of the farms by me wont let you on their property after october 1.

Best numbers are around farm land usually lower half of michigan. 20 lb. Coon is big here but you can kill 15 to 30 coon in one night that are 12 to 20 pounds. If you go further north you find the 22 lb. To 35 lb. Coon and some bigger but their numbers are lower and they tend to be longer tracks.
Bow hunting mania is part of your problem with finding a place to hunt. But legally non residents can't even hunt coon untill after November 15th witch is the day after gun deer hunting starts!!!!!!And a license will cost you 150$

2 above are true!!

Deer hunting is killing coon hunting in michigan...period!
deer nuts or rich idiots, leasing up big chunks of anything they can get.
Or watch a video by another nut and believe everything they see/hear.ex;no human scent in the woods.
Then they protect "their" land and don't want any dogs in there chasing "their" deer out!!
All for the chance to shoot a "goat".

Trespassing is also giving coonhunters a bad name, and putting a cramp on getting permission.
Got 3 different guys near me that I know are good for it.
1 trespassed on a friend of mines property.Knew they got caught on trail camera, and stole it!!
Didn't see the other with their pic on it!!!
I don't even bother to ask him to go!!!

Id hunt Northern Indiana

SW corner of Michigan where I live is not really what I call Great coon hunting. Coon population is okay at best and unless you are hunting a close hunting dog be ready to trespass yourself. Very small patch woods. Like they said above, Anything bigger is leased up. I can drive 45 minutes east and start hit some bigger timber but pleasure hunting around the house during the week is almost a joke. If you can find a place worth hunting...Good luck getting permission.

We can all thank Jackie Bushman, Bill Jordan, and the likes for all of this.
