Maturity

In talking about this Duece dog that Whitted is hunting now, it seems like alot of the things that make you want to pull your hair out just kinda melt away as the dogs mature. You do all this training and then down the road, you realize they just never finish out till they are all grown up. Is it just me or do these big 90 pounders mature slower than the smaller dogs? Seems like it to me.

What is This dogs full name and breed?

i'v seen that alot of bigger dogs do mature slower & get hotter in sumer.

Its probably me but those big pups just always seem to act goofy and hard headed for a loooong time. I can get aggrivated just trying to get one to jump up on the tailgate.

I won't hunt a small dog....they don't have any class jmo........the gunsmoke pup I had trees his first coon at 7 months old and never let up he was lazy sometimes.....the fenceing problem was never any issue either.....jmo thanks

Are we really training, or is it the dogs mature out on there own? I know this much I'm ready to get a hold of one that matures early enough for me not to get mad at it and sell it!

Jim you on to something! I bought a pup directly out of Sackett Jr and and Gr Nite female out of Nailor. Raised him up and treated him right. He had everything you would want in a pup except brains. He got BIG. About 85+ pounds and he did get hot down here. Had alittle trouble getting through rough stuff too. I didn't think he was going to cut it here at about 16 months old so I sold him for 300.00 to a guy in northern oklahoma. Something happenedits 4 months cause he made Gr Nite ch. at 20 months old. I called the guy and tried to by him back for 350.00. Ha ha. I learned right there to give them alittle more time.

Had a buddy that had 1 directly out of old Hayes. I would have culled him when he was 2 but he kept turning him loose until he was 3 hoping he would do something then bam! He got split treed from the dogs and had the meat. Couldn't believe it . He made him a grand in less than a year.
