beware of scammers looking for pups...

got an email asking if I had any puppies left. I replied with 1 left and asked for some more info from the person, ie location, plans for the pup, etc. below is the reply I just got. the sender was Mario Fabio <mariofabio72@yahoo.com>. my reply was "sorry not available". I was hoping it wouldnt happen to me.

(pickup) and shipping as well as the
money to be paid to the person
that will take care of the pickup with
you. So please, as soon as you
receive the (Cashier's check/Money Order), cash it
immediately, and send the
remaining balance to the shipper in
So that the shipper immediately
could arrange for the pickup ... .. Thus, in
view of the above, here are
some of the
details I will need for final
issuance of the (Cashier's check/Money Order) to
you.
1) Full name...
(2) Your physical mailing address ....
(3) your direct telephone number ...
(4) acceptance of my offer ..
(5) final price ...
After which i will give you the details
of my shipper. once the above
information is given you will be issue.

So how does the scam work? Happened to my nephew when he had a plane for sale. His wife worked at the bank and identified the cashiers check as a phoney. He was to cash it and send balance to a third party. Would have worked but the scammer got greedy.

Wish we could round those scammers up and douse them with coon scent and... well, you get it.

The way the scam works is, they write a check to you for an amount of $10,000. You keep the amount of lets say $500 for the price of the pup, your expense of keeping the dog and your trouble of all this to make this transaction work. They have other people they need to pay at this time, and it is more conveinant for them to write one check. So the remaining $9,500 is to be wired or sent to another party by you.(remember, you are being compensated for your trouble) Well you cash the check, take your $500 and send out the remaining $9,500 to another party right away as per your agreement. Well the bank finds out the check is a fake, and guess who is responsible for that money now? YOU ARE!! You have your $500 and sent out the $9,500 and you have to pay the bank back that total amount of $10,000 for a bogus check! But you still have that pup, because no one is showing up to pick it up! This scam has been going on for years, just tell them you are reporting this scam to the FBI.

Thanks. That's the scam i discussed above only it was a fake cashiers check. The amount was $50k.

Ive recieved this email on just about every ad Ive put on Craigslist for the last 5 years.. where were your pups advertised that you recieved this email? Thanks Jon

My brother got a phone call the other day from a so called company that he won a free three day two night vacation to mrtyle beach sc , all he had to do was provide personnel info , and verify he had a valid credit card number , and all exspensives would be paid and plane tickets in the mail , he said it was a recording and it sounded like something homemade like a tape recorder . Best thing to do is forward the info to the attorney generals office in your state , that's what he did and that's what he was advised to do by their office from now on . They also said places like Facebook, my space , etc. scammers pray on people , that's why I don't fool with it .

scam or not?

I want to let you know that the money orders will be sent via Fedex and note that the amount on the money orders will be excess fund $1050 which will Include My shipper's funds cause his out of the State for delivery of goods.
i will email you the tracking as soon as i sent the payment, and i will be responsible for the shipment cause i have a reliable shipper who will come for the pick up and also do the arrangements for the shipment

i will let you know when i locate my shipping agent so that you can send him the remaining extra fund for him to get his way down to our place and have the male pup shipped and the used car i bought in your location
you will need to help get a health Certificate from your Vet which will cost $50 and am paying for it in addition for the puppy
He will also buy Crate,toys and cloth

Please reply me Asap you get this message so i can be sure we Reached an Agreement Also with your Physical Address Not P.O Box cause Fedex will Require it for me to send Payment

I have had them all, they even text me. I got real good at picking them out (who couldn't, their spelling and grammer is awful) so now I play with them. Tis fun, BUT NEVER, EVER fall for this crap. HUGE SCAMS

I got mine from Ebay classifieds, next day pet and find a pet online.

Never give them ANY info, the internet holds a lot of info about you, you aren't even aware of. Type you name in a search engine and see the results.
