The Kentucky Houndsmen Association would like thank all the houndsmen that have visited our New Website and hope that this becomes a great resource for you this coming year and the coming years.

Updates have been made to website and Facebook page and there is also a new Blog page... this will be used mostly for Archive information. Both the Facebook Page and the Blog are accessible from the website.

March 19th had some changes for fishing and hunting regs... the blog has those updates there.

Please join our Facebook page as updates and notifications will be presented there and their appropriate link.

If your club is a Charter Club of the Kentucky Houndsmen Association and you have a Facebook page, website, blog etc. and you would like a link on our website please send me the URL, Or post here if you like.

Section 2. Hunting Requirements. (1) Unless exempted by KRS 150.170, a person shall carry proof of purchase of a valid hunting license while hunting furbearers.

(2) Furbearers may be taken during daylight hours only, except for raccoon and opossum.

(3) Raccoon and opossum may be taken day or night, except that a person shall not take raccoons or opossums during daylight hours during the modern gun deer season, as established in 301 KAR 2:172.

(4) A hunter shall not use a light from a boat to take raccoon or opossum.

(5) A person shall not use the following while chasing raccoon or opossum from noon on March 1 through September 30;

(a) A firearm;

(b) Slingshot;

(c) Tree climber; or

(d)[(e)] Any device to kill, injure, or force a raccoon or opossum from a tree or den.

(6) A person may use a squaller year-round.

(7) There shall not be a closed season on:

(a) Chasing red and gray foxes during daylight hours for sport and not to kill; and

(b) Chasing raccoons or opossums for sport and not to kill.

(8) A hunter may use a hand or mouth-operated call, electronic call, or any other attracting device during a furbearer hunting season.

Living just across the river in Ohio and being taunted by Kentucky's Coon season is just sickening. You guys get dang near twice the season we get in Ohio!!!!!!

Gonna have to break down, buy my Kentucky license and slip across the river.
