I posted this on the beagle forum but didnt want any of the older coonhunters to miss it.

Bob Nicol passed away today(11-23-11)
Dad passed away today while sleeping in his chair. I was trying to think of the best way to let some dog people know so I figured I would post it here. Please keep us in your prayers. Thanks, Jim
I will edit this post with arrangements when we figure it out

Wednesday November 30th 4:00pm to 6:00pm visitation. At 6:00pm a celebration of Bobs life. All at Carlisle Christian Church in Carlisle Indiana.

bob

My 1st night champion win was at a hunt in Logootee In in the early 80's. I drew Bob that night and was maybe 14 or 15. Bob was leading the cast and my dog was treed alone as the hunt was ending. I had looked and the tree time was almost up when Bob chuckled and said. Heres your coon boy. He lost that cast and i won because he found a coon i could not. Will never forget what he did for me that night. Bob was a good man in my book.

Bob

Sorry to hear about Bob. He was a very nice man. I had ran into Bob several times over the years and he always enjoyed talking dogs. Even got to have lunch with him once when I ran into him in Vincennes. Our prayers will be with his family.

As I posted on the beagle board, Frances Gail and I send our sincere condolences. Bob had good beagles and good English coonhounds.

"tubby1111"
May I ask your name?

Posted by tubby1111 on 11-27-2011 06:48 AM:

TUBBY1111's real name is? Roger Land. Bob was a good man and knew hounds. Many people probably dont know that Bob sold Jim Ridge the hound that started Briar Creek kennels. The hound Bob sold Jim was Briar Creek Chopper. Bob was a good man who knew good dogs and thats a pretty good combination to have. The english breed lost a good friend with Bob passing. Usually had a good 1 or 2. R.I.P. Bob, your friend, Roger Land

Rodger thank you very much for your story. Yes Grandpa had Chopper as a pup I have a few pictures with Chopper and my Dad -Rob Nicol- when Chopper was a pup. There is a story Grandpa always told about Chopper at a treeing contest when he was just a pup.
