???dog has ear problems???

A buddy of mine has a hound that has a bad ear problem. The dog shakes his head all the time. There is a mix between puss and a ear wax that comes out of his ear. If you touch his ear he lets you know that it hurts.

My buddy has done everything he can think of as well as what others have come up with, and nothing works. He has put ear canker med. in it, Ivermectin and let that set in his ear for 2-3 minutes while massaging it and let the dog shake it out. Nothing is working for him. If you guys could help out it would be greatly appreciated.

50 years ago I worked for a vet. He had a recipe that I know had alchohol , viniger , Gelsun blue and iodine crystals in it. A few years ago I tried to re-create it. I ordered the crystals from my pharmasist. I liked to burnt his ear up. I called up the old vet and axed him what the formular was and he said he'd done forgot but 2 parts wild turkey and two parts pepsi still worked for him and don't call him again about a technical question. Hurt my feelings bad. Ear mites ain't doodally to kill ,you can drown them with chewing tobacco spit. They might have started the problem awhile ago, but now he has a bigger problem. Take him to a vet worth his salt, he can fix that easier than I did after I burnt him up home brewing.

ear problems

I have a redbone female that has these problems. I was told she had an alergy. to what? I don't know. Could be sinuses. I have "Zymox". OTIC HC 1.0%-Enzymatic solution. IT's sorta of a gel substance applied liberaly in the ear canal and messaged in. It states- Do Not clean ears during or before applying. If you can find it at a vet and try it maybe that will be the answer. It works for my gyp and I have to do this about every two weeks now. It started everyday for 7 days and cut back. She has an ongoing problem but this will take care of her. Just an idea that might work. Have a good day and good luck.

Zymox works good for cronic infectiions.

Easy fix...go to Dollar Store. Get Monostat.........for womens bacterial infections. Works like a charm.

Sounds reasonable to me! I will tell my girlfriend to try that on her Cocker. it Only has a bad left ear so I doubt that it is an allergy. Pluss , she feeds them a dollar a pound feed with No Corn or Soybeans already. LOL.
