Having a Problem
I was recently given a two year old female walker. She'll run a track an tree. The problem is if she isn't treeing I can't catch her. If there is nothing going on I can't call her in and when I get close she'll actually run from me. I've tried to just spend time with her to get her used to me, I've tried using a fifty foot piece of rope calling and pulling her and giving treats, and last night I used a shock collar and she just ran. I'm quite new to the sport and I don't know if there is anything else I can do or try.

Sounds like maybe she was abused for not hunting. Just give her time just you and her and she will come around once she trusts you.

Never ever shock a dog that doesn't trust you. Especially one that's been beat on.
the guy I hunt with and myself thought she might of had one to many shocks for something or other and thats why she reacted that way. you think a collar with a tone or vibe setting would be the most productive because I'm pretty sure she knows what a shocker is and does or no shocker at all

I raised a beagle that was like that he was never beat or anything when he was on the chain or in the lot he was like a big pet but when you tuned him loose look out because it was going to take you awhile to catch him I couldn't hunt him no were but at the house when he finally got tired I would take some food out and it was still hard to catch him he died that way

how long have you had the dog?
with time the dog will trust you more
have you tried Obedience traing starting with the basics the on to the rope?
teaching the dog what is expected when and only when it knows the command given
have you collar conditioned (teaching the dog that the collar is not whats creating the pain/discomfort around her neck but that her not complying to the command given is actually you and her doing it)the dog?
is it really fair to shock a dog for doing something that it doesnt understand.just as a child is tuaght what clean your room means and doesnt do it then there is some sort of disciplin will be involved. a dog wants to please it owner and doesnt want disciplin just a a child wants to please mom amd dad without it
google search collar conditioning and look for ways to teach that
