Do you use long or short posts (e-collar)?
On your e-collar, do you use the long posts or the short posts for your coonhound?

the shorts on hounds or short haired dogs and the longs on longer haired dogs..
if ya use the long posts on a hound that ya hunt hard all night it'll make sores on em..

Thanks Loren,
The problem I have is some of my hounds are rougher haired than others and longer. I guess I'll just have to experiment. I just got a new Tritronics and I didn't get the range I thought I should last night and I think it's my fault not theirs. I'm going to test the system without dogs to see if the range is as good as they claim.

That's the issue I usally have with mine, is if the collar is tight enough or not. I don't want thedogchoking to death when hes hammering the tree. Especially on those hot nights.
I've been using the long posts, but I always feel like the collar is too tight.

Post your results for distance and what system you have.
I have thought of giving my wife a collar and a cell phone and then driving away to see how far I could still beep her at. let us know
