Sunday Hunting

Alright so I just sat down and read a article on sunday hunting for deer mostly. But what does everyone think about the restrictions of hunting on sunday in those states that have it. Also do you think it is a good thing that no one hunts on sundays or should we now be allowed to hunt everyday of the week as long as you are hunting what is in season. I know It bugs me that I can not run my dogs after 12 on saturday night because the weekends are really the only time i have to hunt them.

who says you can't

run your dogs after midnight on Saturday? Nite hunts usually last til 2 am Sunday & we run our dogs on Sunday early am & late pm. You can hunt/train state game lands on Sunday & any private party land you have permission to hunt/train on. We run our dogs 365 days a year, well cept the 2 weeks of deer in Dec. just because of the gut piles & stuff.

I know you can train on sunday, but during the season it is illegal to hunt on sunday. so who wants to hunt be 5 miles from the truck have to stop at midnight take the gun home and then start hunting agian after you drop the gun off.

Don't know what to tell you then

We don't kill the coon, so for us, it's open season all year long. I guess you could say we are coon training, not coon hunting. The fun is listening to the dogs & walking into shine the tree, kinda like christmas. Looking & looking until hopefully, finally there it is.

I feel for you guys in P.A. Didn't realize that there were still states that shut er down on Sunday. Its nice in OH since they did away with it several years ago because it always seemed like the hunting got better when we had to quit...it would warm up or start raining or whatever.

Here in NY state we are allowed to Sunday hunt. In states like Maine and Connecticut you cannot hunt on Sunday which really sucks. Even remember a cast getting harrassed by a game warden in Conn. one time during a Saturday night nite hunt at about 2 a.m. on a Sunday for Sunday hunting. You should work with your sportsman's legislative group if you would like to see it change.

They are trying

to bring Sunday hunting in, mostly they are talking Deer hunting, but I would hope that it means all game. Got alot of tree huggin', bunny butt kissin' folks fighting it. The famous 'I come to the country to get away from noise & people, don't want no banging & folks walking round on my property' type deals. As I stated before, it doesn't matter to us either way, as we only 'train' our dogs. We have NEVER been stopped by or harressed by any game protector. We are on very good terms with both the game protector & the deputy. In fact, the deputy protector's daughter & my daughter are best friends.

I think Sunday hunting is alright for the fur takers like coon, fox, etc. but i like the day rest for the deer. They are pushed hard enough during the week.

If its b/c of religion it shouldnt matter... seperation of church and state!!!!

Posted by Pa hunter on 08-20-2007 12:19 PM:

It is no matter of religion for me. If i was allowed to hunt on sundays i would after church. I really just think that no hunting for deer on sundays is alright cause it lets the buck that are pushed out of their normal area through out the week get a chance to get back down in there and then i have a better chance to get them.
