How will we know ?

I was reading up on the new requirements for degrees for our hounds. It is what it is.

My question is in 2-3 years when I am looking at a set of 6 generation papers. How will I or anyone know if the titles were earned under the new format or the old format?

Does it matter to anyone?

We will have more important things to worry about then how they got titles mainly places to hunt also every good Hunter will cut through the title bs and find a dog to breed or hunt anyway the title subject is way overblown imo

Do titles mean much anyhow? Don't get me wrong I still believe it's an accomplishment to grand a dog out but in the breeders pen does a dog with GRNT 4 in front of his name any better than GRNT 1? If not then why does it matter at all? Just usually means one was hauled more than the other.

Titles in my opinion dont mean a thing breeding wise yes it is an accomplishment to earn and title a dog and I wont take anything away from a dog with a title or their accomplishments but when your looking to breed I think to many people are looking at the titles and not the dog the titles dont tree the coon or reproduce pups you never know some PR dogs or a dog that doesn't get hauled to town to much because the owner just really isn't in to going to many hunts or their work schedule or something prevents them from going to so many may be the best reproducer for that dogs breed but some people wont breed to him because he dosen't have a title or a high enough title

I think it's kind of interesting that the $$$ kc hunters you ask them about their titles in those kc's and they have them their reply is always how much money they won I don't think they dwell on titles much.

I appreciate all the responses to questions i didn't ask. Titles don't mean a whole lot to me either....but THAT wasn't the question.

I get new ones will have Gr.Nt 1, Gr.Nt 2, etc...but what about Nt.Ch. ?

I realize there isn't ALOT of difference in old/new Nt.Ch...there is on the Gr.Nt. though.

I think this is a good and needed question and needs answered. I noticed no one from UKC has replied. Everyone has an opinion and I think Titles are very important to Breeders. Titles are the same as Registration without them most people will not keep up with Accomplishments or Bloodlines. My Granddad had a Great Coonhound but you will just have to take my word, I have no records or pictures but old Tulley was as great as there was.

(1) You won't know. But, so what. I can't look at a title and tell if a dog was trashy or straight. If the dog is mean or not. If the dog is silent or open. If the dog was titled by an honest handler or crooked handler. If it won with good competition, or hardly any competition. Etc., etc.

(2) Does it matter to anyone. I can only speak for myself and say No, it doesn't matter.

To me, the knowledge and integrity of the people behind the dog (and their opinions) carry more weight than the degrees. Of course, I prefer to see it myself (so I can have a first-hand opinion).

Who cares about a title now a days ??? With the low entries in these hunts I see better hounds owned by die hard pleasure hunters. To many people look for titles instead of going hunting with a coon HOUND
