Man, that hunt sure used to be a huge deal to us. Mentioning it brings back a flood of memories...
As big kids, 2-3 of us would pile in one of my old beater trucks and go out to the Battle for a weekend. We'd split a cheap hotel, talk dogs, hunt and eat fast food all weekend long. I'd nearly wear my boots out walking trade row studying pedigrees posted in the stalls and visiting with the old dog traders.
I got a couple breaks and placed a sorry (but lucky) dog one night and won a trophy that wouldn't fit in the cab of my S10. We rode all the way home with it sitting in the middle, sticking out the sliding back glass a half a foot above the cab. I checked the mail three times a day till that magazine came with my picture in it...

Me too when I was a kid it was a big thing. I have always loved battle of the breeds. The breeders showcase was my favorite. And I always walked the trader section. It has gotten alot smaller unfortunately. But I still go and support it. And always will.

It's been several years now that I've went to the Battle of the Breeds. It's always been a good event and I enjoyed it. We did a Pilot Program at that event back in 2014 where tracking systems were used for the first time during the hunt.

Good luck to all this year at the Battle of the Breeds!

Oh my goodness 2014, it has only been 4 yrs? It seems like we have been using Garmins in hunts forever.

I was there. Pretty sure I talked to you briefly about it that night. I remember filling out the comment card and thinking "This'll never fly..."

You're right, we did talk about it. There were several on Friday that said it would never work. Some of those same guys came back on Saturday suggesting it wasn't as bad as they expected. A few even changed their minds.

Wonder how it would go if we tried to take them away now?

Good luck this weekend Cory!

Not again!!! ? It's supposed to still be 70 degrees at this time in southern Oklahoma.

Buy a snowmobile and see if that doesn't change the amount of snowfall you get every year.

I think it was raining last time I went. Lol.
Never fells. Weather permitted I'll be there. We dont get snow heavy. We get ice really bad. It's not fun to drive on.
