Some help Please

I bought a dog from a different climate how is the best way to get him use to the heat and humidity? He almost had heat stroke last night I have been hunting one drop a night went for two trying to get him ready for up coming hunt but the second tree was to much. Any help would be appreciated.

I thank you but swimming him everyday is not a option I have at this time. I was thinking of putting him on the tread mill for a few minutes each day then I can watch him and cool him as needed. Does anyone have tried it or think It will work.

Put him in the truck with the A/C on between drops.

Although he came from a different climate he should be able to handle more than one drop a night, if he had been hunted any before you got him. I would have him checked for heart worms, those will sap the energy out of a dog fast.

I agree and have him checked for tick disease.

Make sure he gets wet, either while hunting or by wetting him down with water that is tepid.

I had a female that would quickly overheat while treeing unless she was wet. Once she got wet she was fine for the rest of the night.

Patrick there isn't but 2 of these guys that are familiar with our climate forget that hunt and leave him in the kennel for a few more weeks I almost killed Rex 3 weeks ago the humidity is too high to push that dog right now if you must hunt him do it at 3 or 4 in the morning.Joe he is down here on the coast by me you know how rough it can get on a dog.

It takes something like 21 days ? for new red blood cells to cycle ... or to make more.

If you want him to oxygenate and climatize .. you have to work on that and cycle his blood and system out ... they make steroids that encourage blood cells ... you can flush them with buttermilk and give them nonflavored yogurt to clean their system ... give them B-12 & B-15 type stuff.

But , the number and quality of those blood cells and his body fluids has to cycle and be re-built before you can do anything with him ..
