Need some help.

Im getting a little tired of getting pulled around in the woods by my dog any of advice for me on how to get him to handle better?

get a switch and put him behind you... and if you are consistant he will get there and stay

Thanks

okay. I was using a choke collar and he knew when it was on and off.

take your lead and with it on the collar bring it behind front leg around the ribs up other leg then under the leash like a half hitch.he starts pulling jerk on it it will make him stop.do that every time you walk or hunt him for awhile and tell him to heal.he will get the idea.

like Patches said, get a switch. I worked my young dog that way and he learned to walk behind me. It's easiest to train them in your yard and not in the woods. work him at least 15 minutes a day just walking around your yard and be consistant with him. Make sure you use verbal commands. When I tell my dog to get behind me he will follow otherwise he walks beside me. I hunted with a guy that just put his leash on his dog and dropped the leash. That dog followed him out of the woods like a lamb lol. I haven't got my dog that broke yet.

i hold my dog leads right where the loop is that connects the chain and beta material and smack em in head with that when try n pass ya. dont take em long n they learn to stay behind. kinda nice gettin pulled up some of these mountains tho.
