Anybody seen or used the new garmin alpha? Need reviews before I sell my 320 and my trashbreaker

garmin alpha

I just got mine today this is the first gps tracker I have ever used. I wish I would have not sold my ecollar. The farthest distance I have gotten is barely a mile with four different collars.
I'm very disappointed I have some friends that get twice that distance with their 320s. Maybe it's not bad I just expected to at least get 1/3 of the 9 miles line of sight they say. Very misleading and by the way the extended range antenna they send with it has no more range.

That's Garmin for you.

Line of sight is just that. If you can't see the collar you not gonna get 9 miles. 2 miles is doing good around here and thats rare. I have gotten 5 miles a couple times but not for long and thats from a real high spot

I don't know anywhere that most people hunt that is 9 miles line of sight. They should say 2 miles and your doing good then you would expect 1 mile. I guess it just looks better for advertising purposes.

Yes with a truck antenna.

I got mine week before last and traded it for a 320 this week, my opinion it tracks as good as a 220 or 320 and will shock as far as it'll track. I just hated the fact it won't track dc 30 or 40 collars and when all your buddies won't buy an alpha your kinda screwed. I went from a 220 and 4 collars to a alpha and 1 collar (man what was I thinking) but bout like usual I lost a couple hundred and got something I can live with now. So if you want my opinion stick with what you got, that new shiny stuff ain't always better.

I just bought a two dog alpha system this week> i havent received it yet, but i had a 220 with 40 collars and the 40's are an joke. Out of about 15 collars i sent back to garmin and 4 220 handhelds i never got a system that worked so i figured it was time to try something different
