which would you rather do
If at a big hunt and you have a choice which would your rather have. You will have plenty of time to make deadline . The closest spot has coons if the dogs stay in the little block of woods
Tim your woods are good ones, thats been proven. Lets see here, your math may be a little off though. 60 minutes from Albany to Fowlstown, and then 90 to the woods, thats 2 1/2 hrs of riding a guy has to do. while i personally do not care where one goes, we do need to look at the time incurred in the travels. Sure, one guy goes the 90 extra miles and he loves it. He wins, and has a big score, that could possibly put him on the board at Albany. 3 others absolutely hate the idea, and they are the ones who voice their opinions big time. I see both sides, bvut one must consider the price of gas these days, and it isn't really just an extra 90 miles, its 180. The cost has now gone up considerbly. While some folks complain all the time, either pro or con in case of mileages to hunts, most will not openly. They wait until a moment when the rep working has a minute, and then vent. I understand it. They looked at a map and planned their trip to Albany GA, not Tallahassee, FL. Your poll here will most likely show the results you want, the 90 mile ride, due to the fact that none of the voters in this poll are faced with that situation as of the here and now. When they actually have to travel that distance, if they are honest with themselves, i bet you'll see some closer mileages wanted. Thats my opinion, and that of a lot of folks who have had to travel that far, who tore my ear off after the fact.

What gets me is the hunters that come back to UKC and cry about how far they went. When the card is pulled, you find out instead of the 150 to 200 miles they say they went it was really under 50.

Tim, while I greatly appreciate you offering to guide to your good spots at the Winter Classic, I don't think it's in our, or the hunters, best interest to subject them to that much driving time. Not when closer guides are available. Sure, if you tree 4 or 5 it's a great hunt. But when you don't, I'm the first to hear about it.
I know you'd like to convince us otherwise as evident by this poll.
I'd be happy with driving less than 4-14 hrs just to get to a comp hunt!
But that option wasn't available for voting.
What is really discouraging is driving 14 hrs to a hunt & drawing in a cast that is going another 2 hrs away to actually hunt.

rather
give me the nasty woods and 15, i've got to hunt them anyway. when i go hunt'n i don't figure i'm going for a walk in the park.
When you go to a big hunt, plan on a lot of driving.....The furthest satalite club with the furthest guide is the cast I always draw.
Starplott, you need to relocate. Thats like owning a snowmobile and living in Hawaii.

Alan ,i have closer woods for hunting this coming year. There is two gentleman that guides out of our club that goes just as far and he still gets to guide every year . I mentioned one of them to you and i bet he gets to guide next year .
Thats the problem with this world these days , worry about hurting someones feelings . The ones that lose will always complain even if they only drive 15 min . When you drive to a big hunt you should be prepared to drive to good woods or at least coons . Not the closeist guides . Win or lose i want the best opportunity not the closeist spot to trun out
