ot: heck of a day
well, last night we lost all our baby chicks and almost the pup. coon in the hen house, again. eggs gone etc. anyways, pup ran out back and thought he was treeing, well he was, something. couldnt get to him in time cause i had skeet on a leash and i bit the dust again, skinned elbow. i thought the pup needed backup. pup heard me scream in agony as my bad knee went out, again, and came a running.
now on to today. crushed 3 of my fingers on my left hand when i tried to fix my semi. nice. had a heck of an air leak coming from my tail gate cylinder so i put the bed in the air and pulled on it so it would release my latches on my gate. well, low and behold, the air leak stopped the same time the cylinder decided to fix its leak. stuck. hand crushed, noone around. 30 ton plus of pressure on my fingers and noone around, i know i said that twice. i have never been so scared and in so much pain in my life. i ripped the leather glove , and my skin(no stitches thank god), flattened 3 fingers and believe this, no broken bones. the doctor said she would review the xrays multiple times and call if she found something cause they couldnt believe it either.. my fingers are flattened somewhat and extremely bruised. they gave me pain pills
.
the adrenalin must have been rushing, cause i didnt know it til just a min. ago, i had taken apart the cylinder(cotter pins out) with my other hand and it was hanging there.
never, never work on anything alone. never have i been so scared.
i had to ask 2 airport guys (that's where i just delivered to) to look at my hand cause i refused to take the big glove off. one said no way, not me. the old man said ok, he said, it's broke.
what a day.
i am trying to figure out how to take skeet out tonight considering. hmmm. i have about 250 acres of 2 new parcels to drop in.
good grief.

mr. smith,
dang, i went to work. almost cost me 3 fingers, did cost me 217.00 in fuel and only made 280.00 on 2 loads. so, do the math,
217.00 fuel
40 copay for medical emergancy
162.45 new tailgate cylinder

Well, at least this puts your post about the mowing problem in perspective. That was nothing compared to this.
Glad you still have your hand, the school of hard knocks does award masters and Ph. D. degrees but those usually are followed by extended hospital stays or funerals...be careful all you folks who work alone or around moving equipment.
OUCH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Glad nothings broken!

Dang!!! Hope your hand gets better quick. I crushed my trigger finger and bird finger a couple yrs ago. Got it hung between the forks of a tractor and the bottom of a metal dumpster. I was scared to look myself. Blood everywhere. I thought they were gone. Now turkey season opened in 3 weeks and my finger was crushed. Trust me when I tell ya. You don't wanna pull the trigger on a win 1300 with a 3" mag 3 weeks after that's happened. It was even hard to coon hunt. So my advise is to rest up this weekend and let them get to feeling better before you hurt them worse.
