Looks like hunting is taken the back seat for boys...UGH Here we go time to break out a jar of deer nuts and have a talk with the boys.

I was a coonhunting fanatic. Every night, except for Sundays, sometimes up at 1 or 2 Monday morning to go. I got into the girls and stopped. Started back and then met my wife, got married, worked third shift, went once or twice a year with my dad. My dad passed away, I got on first shift, started back, went wide open, hunted my dogs, dogs for other people, started pups and put alot of miles on my truck. Lost my job, hunted even more, went back to school, found a job, moved, had to sell my hounds (because we have to rent). Really miss hunting. As soon as we get good and settled and I can talk the landlord into me getting a hound, I will be back. It is something that gets in your blood and you can't get rid of it. It is a disease, a cancer that eats at me every evening when it starts to cool down, and the sun is setting. If it is in their blood they will be back. My kids are growing up faster then I did, but they will know what it is like to hear the hounds grub up an old feeder track, and tree deep in the timber with the echos of that midnight music ringing through the night air. The briar scratches you wear the next day as battle scars and the new unique creature you encountered the night before. They use this phrase for deer hunting, I use it for coonhunting, "It's not a passion, it's an obsession". I am obsessed with it and always will be, even if I never own another hound.
