proposal

Hold minny slams Sunday to Thursday. Give each club one to two a month per fifty mile radius. Money won earns titles. Starting with seven hundred fifty dollars. Fifteen hundred. Three thousand ,six thousand and so forth . UKC license for these events would be thirty dollars. Two dollars per dog recording fee.
recording fee per dog 2.00
License fee 30.00
Entry fees- 25.00
number of entries x12
proceeds 300.00
total UKC fees 54.00
246.00
club share 25%
61.50
hunters share 184.50
3 cast winners 61.50 per cast
I would hunt them How many others would?

This WOULD ELIMIMATE THE DISCUSSION OF WHICH IS THE BEST THE OTHER kcS MONEY TITLES OR UKC GRAND NITES WHY NOT HAVE A SIX THOUSAND DOLLAR TITLE AND A GRAND NITE. NO NEED TO GO TO OTHER REGISTERIES TO REGISTER YOUR DOG. I HAVE TWO FAT GRAND NITES I COULD GET BACK OUT OF THE KENNEL. IM SURE THERE WOULD BE A LOT OF OTHER GRAND NITES THAT ARE HUNTED IN OTHER kcS THAT COULD BE BROUGHT BACK TO UKC I DO KNOW THAT THIS IS NOT THE WAY THE MINNY SLAMS ARE PAID OUT EVERYONE RECEIVES THE SAME. INSTEAD OF THE FINAL FOUR GETTING THE BIGGEST PAYOUT AND THE OTHER CAST MEMBERS GETTING THEIR MONEY BACK

I guess my question is why would they?
What you are describing is nothing more than a slightly modified PKC format. Why would they want to copy PKC?
You think the average UKC club wants to hold a week nite hunt for 61 dollars which would prolly end up being about 20 bucks after they draw the 4 dogs that would actually show up.
I don't know, maybe somewhere but not a snowballs chance in hell around this part of the country.

The club around here seems to do well with both the other kc weekday hunts, i kind of like the one hour poorboy hunts, they hold them on back to back days once a month. twice the hunts.

I am a true UKC fan but the other KC's are getting some interest from me.

Jim, Why wouldnt the UKc use this format. I know they are proposing a progressive tree rule, I wonder where they got that one from?

UKC MONEY HUNTS

yep..i think the UKC needs to do something to stay in tune with the general hunting public. While i would not want to water down, the covetted titles the UKC now has, i would like to see the registrybecome more active in the "money" events. It seems some do loose interest in UKC once that fast learning lil pup gets granded out, and the choice in this area is to go to another KC if you want to hunt that dog. I was hoping that having grands in the performance program, would generate interest here in having some grand nite cast, but that hasn't happened in this area of the country. Part the reason, not enough dogs "of age" in program, the other part is lack of education. There is that belief that the grand nite title does it as far as UKC hunting a dog locally. While we try to educate, well...we won't go there. Two hunts per month, Money Hunts, with no berring on the 7 a club can have now, i could support. Calling it a mini slam, might be a stretch. I think the format would have to be changed some from the present slam to be viable, or just some titling rule changes anyway. Is it workable? Is there enough interest? I think the answer to both those questions is yes. The million dollar question? IF UKC WAS TO TAKE A BOLD STEP, AND SAY LETS DO THIS, HOW MANY WOULD SUPPORT IT ONCE IT BECAME A REALITY? Would you hunt, or just sit on the side lines and complain about rules packages etc...as hunters from every KC do now, when the KC not of their choice does something different?

UKC has been, and still is very sucessful in the formats they run now. The interest is going to have to be there to convince them that a new format is needed, and change in procedure is due. While i for one, and i am sure they do too, support change, change for sake of change may not be what they are looking for. A positive change, that helps the sport, the hunter, and the UKC will be needed to convince them. I encourage each of you to keep your ideas coming, and to send them in to the field operations dept at UKC. If they aren't sent in, there is no chance any will ever happen. Enough are, and supported, i would say there is a good chance, they can happen. JMO and 2 cents, is worth 2 cents.

jmo

Not a fan of the 1 hour weekday hunts. The reason the other KCs have weekday hunts is to draw the average UKC hunter because they wouldnt attend them on the weekend.

By reading the other message boards they are still tring to get the "average ukc hunter" to come to there hunts.

PROPOSAL

Every rule proposal that I see is a generic version of PKC. Why would UKC want to Have rules like PKC. If I want to hunt PKC I can go down and register my dog for twenty dollars, Pay twenty five dollars to have the right to hunt over there. These were the dollar amounts the last I knew. I can hunt UKC for free other than my entry fee. I do hunt another KC. I do not wantthe rules the same in both KCs. No you would not lose the seven hunts on the weekend. But even twenty dollars on a week nite beats two dollars for a hunt test. But JIM I have not owned three or four world champions like you. or won five or sixhundred thousand dollars. My idea of a coon dog, I want all of mine and part of your coon. Thats the kind of dogs they need to be breeding, not a third strike and third tree dog that will be moved up to first tree because it will be split. Breed dogs that will compete, not change the rules . My only rule proposal change would be not having to show your easy entry card.

Hey Larry, you put it out here on an opinion board for discussion. I gave my thoughts. Don't get pissed because I see it different from you.
You know darn well I don't own anything worth mentioning and sure enough not any world champions or any big money winners so why throw that at me?
I just gave my opinion, you don't want hear it, don't ask on a message board.
