a shame

went ot my first UKC hunt in about 9 years , and after that hunt l don't know if l want to run in them again. the judge was nothing but a cheat! l was just specktateing the hunt , if the dog was 3feet from the tree and look in the direction of the hunters walking in it was off the tree , and other little thing's to start arguements at every tree , just wasn't fun l thought all dogs were doing good and l hunt hounds l know if they move or are off the tree ! What happen to letting the dog's hunt and find out who is the best and not who is the best at using rule's !

don't let the bad apple spoil you. do something about it....if he is constant trouble, report him to MOH. If that doesn't do the trick, report him to UKC. Many people are on a no judge list because they just can't seem to do right when they should be fair and honest.

I have asked my-self that many times. It truley is the luck of the draw by that i mean drawing 3 honest men and not 2 or 3 cheats. It's getting to be about who can cheat the best anymore not who has the better dog. Some guys will loose a friendship over a slip of paper and some bragging rights. Amazing, trade a mans respect for a meaningless piece of paper.

First cast I ever hunted on I had a cast member like that, he wasn't judging but he was bad about trying to lawyer his way into a win.

First tree of the night the judge's dog and another dog, not mine or his, were treed. Well everytime these two dogs went more than 2 seconds without barking he would stop and ask for the 2 to be started on the treeing dogs. I didn't have a dog treeing so I just stayed out of it but him and the other two guys went at it for a while, my best guess is the 2 was started and broke no less than 6-8 times on the way to that tree. The judge and the other hunter withdrew after that drop because of the guy and left me with the card and it my first ever cast.

The next drop my female got treed first and his dog backed her but he wouldn't tree his dog. I asked him if he was going to tree him and he finally did. Went into the tree, found the coon clearly sitting on a limb and he said he couldn't see it even though it was easy to see. Hunt time expired while shining the tree and both dogs had no plus, only circle points. When we get to the truck he asked me if I wanted to make another drop and see if we could tree a coon so someone would get points(registered cast), I told him Molly had already treed one coon and if he couldn't see it he probably wouldn't be able to see the next one either and put the card in the truck and went home. Needless to say I want be too excited to draw out with him again.

gets better after the judge didn't win the cast he offered to buy the hound that he was trying to minus all night! l just know pleasure hunting is much more injoyable ! but l will put my male in because he does deserve to show is stuff just got to pray for a good cast of hunters!

Guess I was lucky. I was kinda forged in the fire so to speak. When I started going to hunts I didnt even have a finished dog. After spectating a few times, they started handing me the card (ntch's had to have non-hunting judges in those days).

Clinton MO, some of the toughest dogs and handlers, and me judging ntch casts with just a few casts under my belt. Not to mention never having handled a dog, only spectated.

In those days that was as tough as it got. They had an RQE a few years later with 150+ dogs entered, a record I think still stands. You drew all the advertised dogs and owners.

These handlers not only knew every trick in the book, most of those tricks had been invented by one of them.

I learned by trial and error. More error than trial it seemed. It did teach me how to handle out of control handlers though.

It also made me determined to conduct myself honestly. Win or lose.

with his mouth he will be easy to handle haha. once he opens no one else will be able to here there dogs. haha.
