A Coonhunting Founding Father Has Passed Away

Eighty eight year old Robert (Bob) Browning passed away in his sleep at 4:00 AM today, 09/30/2009 at Oak Hills Nursing Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Robert was very instrumental in the forming of current day nite hunt rules, bench show rules and breed standards. Robert along with others were also instrumental in the creation of UKC’s Autumn Oaks. Bob was a lifetime member of the Indiana State Line Coonhunters Association, Inc. St Leon, Indiana.

Robert is shown here receiving an award for his years of dedicated service to the Coonhunting world from Steve Fielder (on left) and with Jim Simpson (on right).

Funeral services will be held Friday morning 10/02/2009 from 10:00 AM-Noon at Minges Funeral Home in Harrison, Ohio http://www.mingesfuneralhome.com/

I will post more details as they become available.

A good friend,
Bob was a wonderful friend to Dad and I and our families.
He bred a female to " Dual Gr. Ch. Table Rock Flying Hawk" This cross put some good hounds on the ground both nite hounds and show dogs.
One of whom was Nat. Gr. Ch., Grc Ch. Mae Arts Flying Hawks Rose.
I had the priviledge to stay with the Browings several times when I was in that area at a hunt and they were great people.
Bob got to hunt with " Mundo, Jr" severl times and he bred a good daughter of "Rose to him, this also was a good cross.
Bob knew a good hound in dark or light and thats what it took to please him.
If Bob called you a friend he was a friend indeed.

PRAYERS to the FAMILY!!!

Prayers

Prayers to the Browning family. Bob was very dear with my grandfather Lester Nance, and my parents when they were active with the TWBFA.

I had the honors of getting my picture taken with him and talking about the ol'days when I handled Rowe's Hilltop Little Tammy to the AKC Reserve World Champion title in 2007.

Prayers to the family.

Thanks for posting Jerry. Our condolences to the Browing Family. Yes, Mr. Browning did in fact have a hand in the original rules and breed standards as they pertained to organized licensed coonhound events. He will be remembered. RIP.
