Young dog is driving me crazy

I got a young female who is driving me crazy. She has several things she does that are very odd.

The first thing she does is she want run and tree with other dogs but will run and tree coon when hunted by herself. She has not hunted with any mean dogs so that is not the problem. She will be at the tree with other dogs but will not tree with them.

The second thing is she is about a ten bark a minute tree dog. When hunted by herself she will open a little on track and tree. At the tree however she will locate a time or two then make five or six chops. After that she will chop two or three times about once or twice a minute. I have watched her on the Garmin and she does not move or mill around the tree she just sits there. When I get to her she will be sitting there and when she sees me she will get on the tree and make five or six barks then sit back down and watch me shine the tree.

I dont want to give her away or cull her because she is a nice little dog. She hunts fairly close so I have thought about trying to change her over to squirrels and try to make a squirrel dog out of her.

Anybody got any advice on these problems??

I had a female like that once. Hunted her by herself for a few nights and when she barked treed I proceeded to her and when she shut up I stopped. When she barked again, I would start toward her. When she stopped, I stopped. When she started, I started until I got to her. Took 4 or 5 trees but she came out of it even with other dogs.

Thanks for the replies. I'll try to walk one down to her but that is easier said than done. She has some potential. She will consistenly tree coon here in the hills and it takes a pretty fair dog to do that. She is a pretty quick track dog as well.

I have a female that is the same way at the tree. She'll throw along locate and switch over to a bawl/chop combo. Maybe 10 a minute. When I get to the tree she goes quiet. I like that part. I get a lot more coon to look. Curiousity I think gets to the coon. They're wondering if the dog is still there. She's no power house but a nice little patch hunter. But hey. That's just my preferance.
My buddy had one that would blow the top off till you cocked the gun. Then he'd come and sit next to you and wait for the shot. But that's a walker for you. J/K

Tommy are you trying to stir the pot???LOL

She is not afraid of a coon, put one in front of her and it wont last ten seconds. I've tried tying her back from the other dogs but it didn't seem to help at all.

just how young is she?
some of them just need time... too much excitement, too many things to pay attention to at once, especially with other dogs around..

She will turn two on December 21st. She has been hunted around 100 nights or more.
