The dogs
got hot last night. And the track was pretty long and fast.Went to cut them off and theres the coon running down the dirt rd in front of me and the hounds not far behind. They located and treed but they where so whore out from the trip and 75 degree night each one was foamed up and taking turns barking.Took them for a ride and cooled them off.
Man I dont look forward to hunting in hot weather.
If I can work in it all day then them dogs can hunt in the night.
I'm sorry but thats a bone head thing to say.
Dogs don't cool off like people do. They don't sweat and can get overheated quicker then a person can.

I guess that you have never had a dog overheat while hunting, it can kill them! It's NO FUN watching a dog so hot that they can not stand up, much less walk.
If your dog over heats you need to cool it down FAST! Pour cool (NOT COLD) water over their ears, legs, and feet. DO NOT pour the water over their body until they cool down some.
I often pour water over my dog before she gets hot when hunting. She has very thick hair and does fine if wet but will quickly over heat if dry.

My male overheats quickly and easily if I'm not careful and I hunt him a minimum of 3 nights a week, usually 4-5 nights. It's just that some dogs can take the heat better than others just the same as people. But when my dog starts to get overheated, he'll find any water he can and lay down in it, I'll give him a few minutes to cool down then he's ready to go again. But this is why I always hunt close to water from May through Sept.
