Winning Cast at Autumn Oaks - Read all about it!
..........on the Coonhound News Page!
Ahhhhhhhh Mannnnnnnnn.
Now I think I'll just go rub some salt in the wound.
LOL. Seriously, he is bar none the toughest hound Ive ever drawn. At least he was that night.
You rarely ever see Loose on the same tree as the rest of the cast unless they go with him. Most of those calls were split seconds apart though.
The part that tickled me was watching 3 male GRNTCH's on the same tree that wasnt more than 8" or 10" across, and not an off bark or ill look from any of them.

Larry.
Iv'e heard your Looser is a pretty good coon dog, I feel your Pain, I to have lost a cast that way once, he scored 1025 to my 850, other two dogs minused out 1/2 way throu. Man did I want to hunt 130 minutes that night, but the judge said Time Is Up. That was the fastest locating dog Iv'e ever been to the woods against, like just always three steps ahead, "maybe next time".

Jess Myers,
Loose is a coondog. Maybe the best I will ever own.
He still isnt the same dog I had before the tick diseases got him, probly never will be, but he has won his share this year. There was a few weeks there when he was on the meds that he was back to his old self. He had a vet visit today to retest, but I havnt heard what the results were yet.
None of that takes away from the fact that the Son dog is the quickest, honest, strike and tree dog I have seen yet. He won the cast fair and square.
Maybe one day we will draw him on our turf, where the tracks are a little harder to come by and a little longer to the tree. Thats where Loose looks his best.

Sound like Ole Looser gave them a run. Its always nice to at least be in the winning cast and if larry said it was fair, ( then it was deffenatly fair ). This is competition hunting at its best, when you get beat , Congradulate, shake hands and move on. Its hard to be that close and not win, but Larry shows good sportmanship.

Not sure if I should post this or not............but here goes. There was no scores recorded on the last drop, because it would have just been deleted anyway. Loose struck about 2 minutes into that drop (we only had 6 minutes), the Son dog never opened. As we were walking into Loose after the hunt time was up, we came up on the Son dog. He was drifting around still looking for a track.
We walked part way to Loose, then realised he was starting to get pretty deep. I decided not to take a chance, and to get back to the truck to complete the scorecard and send it on its way to the MOH and clubhouse. While filling out and signing the card, Loose rolled up treed. None of this mattered because the time had ended about 10 minutes before.
Loose was a 1/2 to 3/4 deep with the meat.
Larry Robinson called tonight (Loose is at his house getting ready for the zones). The vet said he was pretty anemic and retested him for RMSF and Erlichia. He put him back on triple the dose of Tetracycline untill he can get back with Looser's regular vet tomarrow. Were all pretty sure the Erilichia has flared up agian since he completed his first round of meds.
To be honest, I fear he wont ever recover from it completly. Its like water eating away at a rock.
