Turkey boys

I didn’t realize turkey hunters were like deer hunters until today when I was reading some comments on Facebook they’re wanting to kill and trap every coon in the country. Me I just like to hunt always have don’t make any difference ever what season is in I never did get mad and want to kill every deer in the world because ol bill was going into the next county with one (well not ever time) the worst enemy we’re facing is ourselves if we can’t find a way to get along our freedom to hunt with our dogs or any other way will vanish into the mist.

Turkeys

As a coon hunter here in western NC I see more turkeys and turkey sign than ever before. I also hear turkey hunters complaining about not being able to get on a bird. I understand turkeys eggs are poached by coon, but that is not a new thing and is a natural act of nature. As a hunter we have to understand that the total ecosystem needs to be healthy numbers, not just the game we pursue being overpopulated so it makes our hunt easier. I probably live in the worst coon woods possible and I can drive down the road and see birds strutting in people's yards during season and still hear complaints from turkey hunters about the coons killing all the turkey eggs lol.

United we stand divided we fall. Never a truer statement exists, we can be selfish and not support each other and fall in the end. Just as stated mother nature works very well to balance ALL things and keep populations in check. I see more turkeys now than ever and our coon population is higher than it's ever been. Do coons eat turkey eggs? Yes, but not enough to have a serious threat to the turkey population. All hunters need to work together and respect each other's sport. Dave

Turkey Huntets

Well you'd think that the turkey and deer hunters would be a coon hunters best pal, and invite them in on these big hunting leases for us to thin the herd down. I have a 3500 ac deer club I hunt and they're not crazy about it but I made my point a few years back when the bucks went nocturnal and I told one of the members to let me bring my dog a few nights and kill some of the coon eating their corn and by doing so with all the racket id be making them big bucks wouldn't feel so safe feeding at night and come out in the day... what do you know they started seeing and killing bucks again and called me told me to hold off till further notice (deer season) then I could hunt all i want, now that let me come whenever. They've figured out a coon dog won't cause a deer to move to another county 🤣

Turkeys in Kentucky are declining fast, Places that have always had turkeys just don’t anymore and every year it gets worse. I know coons and opossums eat there fair share of eggs and no one around here coonhunts like they did 10 years ago. I have been a trapper for close to ten years and as I see the turkey population decreasing there is one thing I notice, the bobcat population is increasing fast, me and my wife trapped this past winter and had no problem getting the 10 cats that we are allowed.

I don't understand. If Turkey and deer hunters hate coons then they should love coon hunters. I hate deer, turkeys and coyotes so I love deer, turkey and coyote hunters.
