It should be a great night.

Have you ever thought hey this is great weather to coon hunt, and then go and it's not so great?

Friday night here in central Michigan, it was dark over cast and the low was basically going to be the same all night of about 40 degrees. I had a tire issue so I decided rather than press my luck that I was just going to stay home. Then when i went to feed the dogs it was beautiful outside. At that time I thought I had made an error in judgement.

Saturday afternoon, I asked the misses what she wanted to do. She said, "shopping". So I did the good husband thing and said lets go. The boys were all busy and gone. So we made an afternoon of it, and ended by having dinner out. As we left the restaurant, it was already dark, clear and cold with a stiff biting wind. Dang, i did made an error in not hunting the night before.

Fact is time in the woods is time in the woods whether cold or not. So when I got home I started getting ready. Our first drop was late at 10:16 pm, and all surface water was already frozen with an air temperature of 29 degrees. My expectations were low.

Imagine my surprise when we had an excellent night making 4 trees with 4 coon seen. Moral of the story. Sometimes just ignore the weather and go cut that dog loose.

There's allot of truth to that.

ive come to the same conclusion, so now no matter what, as long as the temp is above 15 degrees and its not hailing or crazy bad weather, im going hunting!

Then there's nights I think should be good and the coon don't move.Them kinda nights I blame it on the dogs.

the more I study raccoon patterns, the less I know about them.

same with women.

That's because we expect them both to be habitual animals when in reality they both do actually have a brain and know how to use it. LOL
