Looking for Training Advice

I have a 5 month old bluetick male that is just getting started. He is great at tracking but I took him out last night to the creek and ran a drag with a caged coon and he tracked it but hardly bawled. Night before did the same thing and he was bawling like crazy and being very aggressive. Is there maybe something else I can do to make him more aggressive on caged coon? Any tips will be helpful.

training

I wouldn't waste my time if I were you fooling with a dog with a cage coon or drag you can teach a dog more bad than good with a cage coon. Just wait another couple months till your pup is big enough to keep up with a old dog and take it hunting with old broke dog and shoot coon out.

Great point. But if you do decide to use the" turn it loose and it is on" method, make dang sure he doesn't catch it. Could be disastrous to a 5 month old pup. Let him grow, and run him when he gets bigger.... JMO

Pups

Once a pup will go. Never mess with a caged coon again, I think it does way more harm than good. Their born coon dogs or not.
