Garmin issue

My astro 220 just started losing communication at 200 yards and sometimes less. It has been flawless for 5 years. I have installed all the latest updates. It will track a dog perfectly for the first 200 yards, then bars go red and loses communication.

Any suggestions or should I just call Garmin and jump through the hoops. I have yet to ever return a unit so this will be a trial of patience I'd assume. Do they issue a refurbished unit for a lesser fee?

Thanks.

also

Thanks. I should have also mentioned that I've tried tracking other collars as well as tried a different antenna. I've also cleared out dog tracks menu for memory. No change. Must be an antenna issue.

That was going to be my next ??? was if you tried tracking other collars yet. That should be the connection on the Astro connector where it has broke loose on the inside. That would be a very easy fix!

Thanks Garminguru. Easy fix for them or me? I'm guessing them. I'm going to give them a call today.

Funny! Should be an easy fix for you unless you are 90 years old and have parkinsons disease!
Of course, if you do not have a good anti static soldering iron or know where to borrow one that could be a problem.

Garmin has been real great in helping me out in the last few years, I think I would call them.

garmin

Great customer service. Not trying to offend anyone but it was very nice to talk to a loud, english voice on the phone. Was on hold for 5 minutes, on the phone for about 15 minutes total. No run-around, just checked to see if everyting was updated and said send it in. Garmin is sent out. Only downfall is I'll be out of the race for about 2-3 weeks. Thanks everyone for the help.
