ARCA 50th Anniversary- please read

As some of you know, 2014 marks the 50th anniversary of the formation of the American Redbone Coonhound Association. We would like to help commemorate this milestone by publishing a special 50th anniversary Redbook issue next year.

There is a committee formed to make this happen but they need your help. If you have any memorabilia of past Redbone Days or anything else you may find interesting to see or read about in this edition, please let us know.

You can simply post on this thread and someone will contact you about it.

You can use your imagination here. We'd be interested in publishing anything about the ARCA that the membership might find interesting or entertaining- especially from days long past!

It would be great for anyone attending RB Days in Cuba, MO to bring this material.

One more thing- we are actively seeking copies of old Redbooks for sources of information. We will be needing to borrow a full set of Redbooks for a short time to gather information. They will be promptly returned. You can bring them to RB Days in Cuba or mail them to a committee member.

Let's go to work and make this extra special!!

Oh my goodness....50 years! Are you planning any special festivities? Will there be special T-shirts made? Where is the 50th Anniversary hunt going to be held? Is there anyone still around that was at the first American Redbone Hunt? The Redbook says that Jack Brown won the first hunt with Jim Dandy? The Redbook says that Dorman Clouse was the President from 1963-1969. This is exciting. I remember when I went to my first American Redbone Days in Alabama back in 1999.

Richard,
Burnis Gardner was at the first hunt. At the first hunt they hunted only grade dogs on friday night and only registered dogs on saturday night. Some of the guys hunted their registered dogs on friday night as grade dogs. Burnis won the grade hunt on friday night with NiteCh Gardners Red Andy. The overall winner of the hunt had to be a registered dog from saturday night.

I talked to Burnis a couple weeks ago.

Depending on where it is ill be there with a red dog that's great granddad was timber choppin dan if I can get my redbone female on point by then. Just a little time and a little patience will make a true coonhound shine. If I miss the event will there be anyway I can get a 50th anniversary t shirt mailed or a copy of the redbook if I mail in the money just wondering.

You mean that I have 20 more years left??? I had better slow down on my spending and save a little more money. I had planned on being broke at 75 yrs old. I figured that I would just be sitting on the front porch in my swing by then.
