Coon Feeders and Atttractants
Is there anything new that has been working? Just wondering what yall use?
A buddy of mine takes old tired and ties them in a tree close to the creek about 6the foot off the ground.. to get them coming to it he will put dog food then after a while he just puts corn.. another friend of mine delivers bread for this company and baits his buckets with the old left over bread
I buy the big containers of generic koolaid and mix it 50/50 with corn meal then add that to my corn in my feeders. it seems to work really well. usually had coon at a new site by night 2. ( I use a trail camera to see when they are coming to it for a week or so).

for me,i use the bottom of black plastic 55 gal. barrels.i cut the bottom off about eight inches and leave one side a little higher so i can cut a hand hole in it for handling .i sour my shelled corn at home in five gallon buckets for about three days then take it to my barrel bottoms.the bottoms are like big plastic pans and they will hold five gallons of sour corn.plus you can move them around any time you need to.and souring the corn at home keeps the deer from eating it.you can get the coons coming then slide them around to an area that only has small trees like a pine thicket.when you walk a pup into this area the coons will either leave making a hot track or climb a a small pine that this OLD man can climb, then i know we will have a good hot track.i only use this method for starting pups alone.works for me!!!!!!!!
Thanks Alot
barrel bottoms
Does possums mess with it or just coons?

yes, possums and squirrels will eat there.i put a trail camera on mine so i know what time the coons are feeding best.you can also set a live trap there and catch a coon to turn loose right in front of your pup and still have the coon to use again at a later date.
Dump whole corn in a creek or pothole. It will swell up and sour, coons love it. I do this in the creek behind my house, and always have coon to start my pups with. One thing I found out , was if you put a feeder in a tree, after a while there is so much coon scent on it your dogs will want to tree on it day or night. That might not be the best thing.
Apparently yall don't have a hog problem like we do in Texas. lol
I don't have to worry about hogs here at my house. Thank goodness. If I did dumping corn in the creek would be the wrong thing to do. Unless you wanted some pork chops.
