inside dogs?

do you thinkin having a dog live indoors ruins them in the woods?

my patches lives inside and it hasn't killed any of her hunting instincts. as i posted earlier one time when she runs out of coon she finds bear or bobcat to run. just have to convince her now that when we come home i'm the only one getting hot chocolate. lol hmmm mayhaps i should add that to my flash cards??????

I've got 2 in the house and it doesn't hurt there hunting at all. If there hunters, they hunt.

What hurts them is when u clean or smoke / all the chem in the building mat in the house .It does hurt there sense of smell and they are more reluctant to hunt in cold weather just like us

Cold weather,

Iv'e a chocolate lab female that has lived her whole life inside. She sleeps in the bed, know matter how many times a night you kick her off, she will be there in the morning. She is a tireless hunter in the field and will swim through skim ice All day long or untill the ducks quit flying, then she will Pout all the way back to the truck because Im making her leave.

But that's a Lab for ya..

Living inside never slowed down my hounds. They do not care if it is freezing or not. We hunt in swamps and these guys dont care if they have to bust ice or not. In fact the one that sleeps in the bed is probably the hardest hunting and most radical tree dog I have. I have found her several times treed in the swamp beside the house when she has gotten out.

one thing we have noticed that seems to make a difference is how they are raised as pups. we had a female who was raised as a pup in a heated kennel/dog box, and she would shiver and grind her teeth when it was the slightest bit cold. now we have a male who was raised in an air conditioned kennel since he was born in the summer, and he cannot tolerate any heat whatsoever. he will pace and howl constantly. maybe just coincidence, but it's the only thing i can think of that would have caused their habits.

THANK YOU FOR THE RESPONSES. IM NEW TO THIS AND HAD SOMEONE TELLING ME THE OTHER DAY IF I KEPT MY DOG INISDE MUCH LONGER HE WOULD NEVER REALLU HUNT. BUT SOUNDS LIKE THAT IS A FARCE. THANK YOU AGAIN

Got a pup when it was - 20 degrees about 17 years ago so I
kept her in the house, (never had to be house broken) she
made Dual Grand and is still my all time favorite coondog!!!
