coyote calling info ?

i was maybe wantin to do some coyote calling soon. can anyone give me any advice on a good call ? should i use a battery powered one or some kind of mouth call? whens the best time to go.....day or night? do you use any kind of blind? also what type of shell in a shotgun? i know where theres loads of em and i wanna thin down the population. thanks for any info.

for a shotgun most people use the T shot.. I use a battery powered call. the Primos Power Dogg.. we do most of our yote huntin at dawn and dusk. some at night on the big farm. just always remember they are like a big buck. they will circle downwind everytime before even thinkin about approaching to investigate the calling.. good luck..

I use a foxpro fury electronic call it might be more then you want to pay though right at $600.00 give or take a dollar.you can use a mouth call if you want to but if you do practice with it for awhile before trying to call them in.I use a hand held siren also to locat them.if no luck locating with that I move to another spot.can't call in whats not out there.If you going to use a shotgun I'd go with #4 shot high brass I use a .204 myself so can reach out and touch them when they hang up out there a ways.Use a decoy of some sort to so they are paying attention to it and not you as they come in.I have a ground blind I use at times.

Definately use a decoy, because when they hear something in distress they are gonna be looking hard. The decoy will focus their attention on it instead of you the caller. Some like the electronic calls.Dont buy the 50 dollar ones cause I can guarentee you, you may get your dogs head to turn sideways, but they arent calling in squat.The ones the guys mentioned above are pretty nice. Myself, i have a few nice mouth calls that work extremely well. Also, do not over call, and do not call to loudly. I mean how loud do you think a distressed rabbit or field mouse is? lol Call for a couple minutes then wait. I usually wait 15 minutes and then call agin. If nothing shows that round, I move to the next setup. Rabbit distress,coyote distress/howler, and a little squeeker works for me. Good Luck.

Probably the most important rule, be ready to shoot anytime after you start calling. I`ve had them land in my lap 20 seconds after I started. It can happen real slow or it can happen real fast, always set up with the downwind side open so they can`t slip in and wind you.

i use turkey loads no. 4 and 2 also carry a rifle incase they hang up. i also use a fox pro with a rabbit decoy

Im having right at a 70 percent luck rate in calling them in, now shooting them I hate to post my pecentage.lol Ive ben using a woodswise wooden rabbit in distress, and also there coyote howler Get them at rural king for around 15 bucks.

we average about one animal for every 12 setups but thats with 2 people
