Trainers that have started dogs wining or placeing high in world hunts?
Just wondering how some of the dogs that have been successful in the big hunts like world and such were started. On drags, releasted coon, ran loose (attended), ran loose (not attended), roll cage. How were they first handeled when very young? Come on guys share. Please

I know there are several top trainers across the country that some of these owners and handlers are tapping into to get top prospects.
I'm not talking about training facilities either.
I'm talking about die-hard trainers that know what it takes to mold a dog into World Champ material. Some of them are folks that aren't afraid to enter in the hunts but typically don't because they're busy working young dogs. They get more out of taking a young pup and getting it off to the right start and in turn they sell these young hounds for a good price and get to see them enter into the World of competition.
I think these types of trainers are the unheralded individuals in the sport. Owners, Handlers, Breeders, and the dogs get all the credit but I have a feeling behind many of them was an accomplished trainer that put those hounds on the path to success.
I could see that. I like working with pups a lot more than a finished dog. A good dog you just walk tree to tree. That gets old fast to me. I like to listen to them learn and wach them grow with muscel and mind.

I enjoy starting pups. Taking a pup and raising it up and get it to tree its first few coon is fun.
I also enjoy taking an older dog that has been sitting in a pen for years or a dog that hasn't had any regular hunting, and hunting it and fine tuning it to bring out the best in its abilities.
Its the stage in between I struggle with. Taking a young dog that can tree its own coon and pounding it in the woods to make it a finished dog is the toughest part to me. I get bored with them. Once the run and tree a couple dozen coon, it seems to lose the thrill and I usually move onto something else whether another young prospect or an older dog that needs some tuning up.
Top trainers might not even mess with baby pups. They might seek out those pups already old enough to start and put some serious time into singling them out. I bet if someone can consistently do that and sells a couple of them that go on to win big, it is only a matter of time before promoters, owners, and top handlers begin seeking out these trainers and either put prospects in they're hands or buy up most the young dogs these trainers put out.
I wish I knew where to find these guys. I know they're out there.
JUST TOOK HIM TO THE WOODS, HE DID THE REST. THERE WAS SOME CORRECTION THAT HAD TO BE DONE, BUT NO TRAINING TO TREE A COON.

Thank You Sir, for your reply. At what age did you start takeing him and did you start him by himself or with a dog? If with a dog was it a fast dog or something the pup could keep up with and learn to out run?

Does the ones that kick dirt in your eyes start out at 8 months old that way or do they get more drive with experience and confidence?
