Is he ready for the hunts????
I dont no much about comp huntin. I pretty well no the rules, ive been in a few but as far as tellin a dog ready for the hunts from a pleasure dog or a dog that just needs a little more time I got no Idea.
I got a young male dog. He is a honest strike dog. When he opens he will get treed sumwhere. Hes around 75 to 80% accurate maybe. Ussually if he aint got a coon on a limb its a hollar or a tangle of vines and blown down trees. Not a spectacular track dog on meduim tracks. Burn a good track down like hes runin a deer though. Very very classy hard tree dog. Three beutiful locates and a hard chop every breath. Do yall think hes ready. Id like to put in one next weekend but I dont want to go and get embaressed lol.
how old is the dog

Im in no hurry. I just tought id ask. I dont care if he dies a pr. Hes first and formost a pleasure hound all the way. Like I said I dont no how to tell if a dog is ready for the hunts or even a dog that can compete in a hunt. His track speed is what my biggest question was about. Ive heard him get on some good tracks and just scortch them, but mainly hes kind of slower on a track, I think. He may be average. I talked to the guy the other day that hunted with his dam alot and he said she was the exact same way on a track and she was a grnitch and a dern good one from what I heard. Ive only been with a couple different dogs in my life. I dont no I was just curious. I like to hear other folks opinions on things. Thats how you learn, right lol. God knows I got alot of learnin to do.

i tell the truth about my dogs good or bad
Yea I dont want to draw out with some fighter or somthin. He loves his tree and aint gonna leave it or give it up for nobody Ive hunted him with enough dogs to no that right off the bat. He aint ill on the tree or nothin, just he wont put up with a dog that wont take their share of the tree. He dont like dogs that do stuff like jumpin up and down on a tree. It aint the jumpin that bothers him untill they start jumpin up and down on his back and all over him. I do no he dont put up with that, and can hold all the pressure you can pour on him, he aint leavin his tree when he knows theres meat in it.
