GATORS!! lots of water, in places . Not sure where you are coming from but the coon arent as big or as abundant as up north. year round training season, USUALLY mild winters though not so much this year.

State bird = the SKEETER.

Lady Friend

Shane,

You must have met a woman of intrest. Come down to South Alabama and i'll show you some briars the boys from Michigan took pictures of last year. They also said if they had to hunt those thick woods and have to carry a machete they would quite coon hunting as well.

I've had pretty good luck hunting around the Orangeburg area. We're from the Upstate, which as someone already mentioned is different terrain altogether, but are members of a deer club in Branchville. I've encountered a few swampy areas, but I stay out of the deep swamps myself It's a nice change to hunt on level ground when we're down there as well! Plenty of "coon-y" looking places, but there is PLENTY of off-game to tempt your dogs! Deer galore, and I've seen a few armadillos as well. Keeping my fingers crossed, haven't seen any gators yet, but have come across plenty of nasty snakes. Other than that, everyone else pretty much covered the pro's and con's that I can think of. What I love most about that area is that if you stay outside the city limits everything hasn't "grown up" yet. I'd sure move down there if I could get my fiance' out of the upstate!
