Looking for Frank Grimmett
Years ago (about 8 years I guess), I sold my dog NTCH PKCCH Tri County Drive to Frank. He bred "Drive" to a heavily bred Yadkin River female. Wondering how that cross ever turned out because I have the opportunity to breed an "old school" Yadkin River bred bitch to one of the males out of that same cross. Frank was from California and his dad was from Oregon. They use to have a website but I can't seem to locate it. Any help is appreciated. wd
Drive was out of WLDNTCH Loomacres Jasper & GRNTCH Bramblewood Shag, he was the best I ever raised, trained and owned bar none!
Sent you a pm with Franks email address.Frank lives in Florence Oregon now.Used to have a website that was called West Coast Walker Hounds (I think) but I can't find it now.
That's him, thanks. wd
High Country Drive
I owned High Country Drive Here in Oregon At best he was a fair coondog. He lacked tracking speed and trailing qualities that it took to make a decent dog in our country. Gave him away to some kid that wanted to get into hounds.(If that type of hound is what is being bred and campaigned out east we are in a world of trouble as a whole, in progressing walkers as hunting dogs our goal should be to go forward not backwards.
High Country Drive or Tri County Drive? Doesn't sound like we're talking about the same dog at all. The "Drive" I'm talking about would wear any 3 men out. Frank had nothing but good things to say about him, you must have it wrong.
Send me a picture and I'll tell you if it's the same dog. It was 8 or 9 years ago when I sold him but I will know him when I see him without a doubt.
same dog
That cant be the same Drive I hunted with unless he was sick that dog was fast and could Move a track.
lol
cant be the same dog tri county drive put the smack down on me and alot of others around here cut him loose any where if there was a coon in there he would find it wayne didnt call him drive for nothing!!
I do not have any pictures of Drive It was the same dog unless Frank had Two dogs Registered as Tri Country Drive. Dont get me wrong The dog was a hard tree dog and was getting up in age. But he did not have the nose and tracking ability that we look for out west. I got the dog from franks son to try to start some young dogs I had on coons, it took a good track for him to tree it and he had trouble lining a track out dont know something could have happened to him after frank got him gave him to a kid to hunt him in filbert orchards over in the valley where they were spot lighting coons and getting very short races in flat ground he kept him for about 6 months and got rid of him.
the drtve wayne is talking about was a top dog and boys you better have your sneakers on cause he was going to tree acoon somewhere i have known wayne and his brother paul for a long time they tell it the way it is

That's very strange to hear. Drive was not what I would consider a hard treedog, most times he would sit on his butt and tree back away from the other dogs. He also had what I thought was a really good nose, he would strike coon out of the box and would open on tracks way ahead of most dogs he was dropped with. When I sold him to Frank, he called me shortly after and said he was treeing coon with Drive in places that he hadn't treed coon in years. He thought very highly of Drive and all reports back were positive. (I even received Christmas cards for years from him) Like tutone said, you better have your walking shoes on because Drive was a one way hunter with no reverse, he would get hooked somewhere and he would have the meat 9 times out of 10. Maybe it was his age or his health when you had him, who knows, if you had owned or hunted with him when he was young you would without a doubt take back your comment about the breed going backwards. He was one of the best around these parts and I will always consider him one of the best I've ever owned. Who knows, it's all in the past now. wd
