coon dog or coonhound, what does everyone prefer??
and why would you refer to them as such?? and what breed do you hunt?
I CALL THEM COONDOGS. BUT I GUESS IM A LITTLE BIT REDNECK AND IM NOT TO POLITICALLY CORRECT.. LOL

They are all coonhounds when they are born. Very few make it to being considered a Coondog.

I always refer to my dogs as
coondogs, don't know why. I would call her a coondog.

She is a pretty little walker
For me to call one a coondog it has to be able to get in there by itself and get treed with a coon, do it consistently and not take all night doing it.
The rest are just plain ol coonhounds.

I just call em coondogs.....I feel like a dork when I say "CoonHound" lol.....I hunt mostly Plotts and English, but will give anything a nod if it'll tree a coon with some style....

I just call mine Ol'hounds because I've seen very few(I mean like two or three) Coondogs.

I have had and presently own some English Coonhounds I would call "coon dogs". I have had a couple Mt Curs I would also call "coon dogs".
I have had some others I would call "pot lickers" or culls.
