Bluetick Women/Men I have a 14 month old female from Tim's Blue Trapper he is a son of Spanky........and Bill Turner's Flossy a daughter of Hammer X. This young hound is coming on real well with hunting, running track, and treeing I am going to have her bred the year she turns 2. She is a beautiful piece of bluetick work a very dark hound with a blanket back, dark tim, and dark eyes, and weighs 50 pounds now...........Any ideas as to what would cross good on this female.................

If you want to stay with hammer blood, I'd either go to Hammer XVIII or maybe the Rattler dog, him being Spanky bred.

I hear good things about the Rock dog of Warren Sturtz and the River dog Harry Pradon has.

If you want an outcross that will boost you in the mouth department, and not hurt you anywhere else, call Lonnie Uchtman and talk to him about Hornet.

john if you want to linebreed the spanky

stuff of course mackie manns would be a good source. there is also a nice reproducing male in northern pa. that is a direct son of bluesea buckwheat(spanky x ugly blue sky) sky goes back to the old smokey river blood. his name is grnt ch scott's blue thunder and he is throwing very fast track and quick locating tree dogs. he has produced well on the running bullet x jet v stock. you can e-mail me if you would like to know some of the other traits you are likely to get. of course anyone who is a dedicated blueticker is welcome to use my stock.rock is an outcross-- jet hammer breeding x linebred diamond jim-- his son who will be offered to the public soon is out of a female that is heavy hammer jet blood and vaughn breeding showing hammer 2 many times through linebreedings on trapper and northern blue jet, michigan rebel, hammer v,and also tahsudas arkie, vaughns jack and heavy oo grant's ozark mt breeding from ron browns hooker female that produced many nice hounds for him. those blanket backs are dominant with this blood. warren

John vaught, i have a young dog too. that might be a good choice. he is a blanket back. he is out of river. he made nite champ at 14 months old. he is qualified for the world hunt and likes one win to become dual grand. he is 16 months old now.. all these wins on him did not come in his back yard.he will be a little over 2 years when you breed your female. two other choices around here. mulberry blue river or etowah blue Bo. i have had the privlidge of hunting with both of them. they are two outstanding hounds i like both of them. either one of these may or may not be what your looking for. it was just a thought for a blue female thats starting young, like these three dogs did. well, heck john my 8 year old girl was the one that qualified my young blue dog for the simies. even though we want make it this year. but we will be shooting for it next year..... maybe sometimes we can get together for a hunt..... gary woods

Grand daughter to Spanky

John my hunting partner bred raised and trained the Trapper dog. His name is Jeff Timms. I have the only other male from that litter. If she was mine I would look at getting back into the Jet breeding. Traps mother was out of Jet 5. Jeff also raised her and she was everything you would want i n a dog. I would breed her to Jet 6 or 7. If you dont want to go all the way to MI to Eds house Jeff has a littermate to Jet 7 that is a nite ch and all coondog. Im sure that he would love to work something out.

I would breed her to a dog who had the same grandparent as her that I like the best. For instance, if you liked the hammer dogs best, I would breed her to a stud dog that had the same hammer grandparent as she does. This would tend to muddy up the water less and not introduce so many varibles. Also try to compensate for her weak points by finding a stud dog with strong points in those areas. There are a lot of good stud dogs, the trick is to find the one that will cross best with your female, course you probably know that.

Timm's Blue Suzy Trapper's mother.......Yes I know Jet V. is her Sire, and Hammer XI. is Sioux Valley Sue's sire which is Suzy's mother. I really need to breed to a stud dog with a loud mouth as this female is a little weak in volume. Also she is a bawl/chop mouth tree dog I believe I have heard say that Jet V. throws a lot of this style mouth. I don't really care about the bawl mouth tree dog as long as I can hear them treeing I am ok with it. She is a tight belly up intense tree dog that at a young age will hold her own with an agressive male dog she wont move a lot to get away from one. I hope to make the right choice when I do breed her, and thats why I am asking for ideas from all that will give me advice or opinions........Any, and all are welcome........

John, if it's mouth she's weak in, consider something Uchtman bred. I don't think there is a strain of Blue dogs out there that is more consistent in producing that particular trait.

Hey John, You know my Rock dog is a Grand pup of S R Chief. And he is not as big as Arkie,LOL, Rock is about 72 lbs in hard hunting shape. Has the blood you like and will put a shot of Vaughn in there too. Also She would cross good on the Tramp dog, again, the blood you like and you could still call it an outcross. River dog sounds like a good one to me. The Pounder dog is sure a winner in the hunts and could be a way to go.
