GrNtCh's

What do most hunters do with their dogs after they finish them to GrNtCh's? I know that alot of the real good ones are retired to the stud pen but I'm sure there are plenty that are finished to GrNtCh that aren't good enough for the stud pen. I know alot of serious comp hunters hunt a dog until it's finished out and then start with a new dog. Just curious.

Most around here are hunting UKC and PKC at the same time. Most around here are done hunting UKC once they make NITECH. At one time a dog being a GRNTCH meant alot to me, but now it really doesnt matter. Its not hard to make a dog one if you really want to.

we use Jenny for pleasure hunting, pup training, and use her to introduce newcomers to the sport. Saturday nite- instead of going to a comp hunt. We took my uncle and aunt out for their first time. 1 st drop, Tamarack Swamp, go on the left and you miss out on the swamp. Jenny and Shi striked out together and they went deep. My uncle and aunt not knowing anything about coonhunting followed us into the woods. Meanwhile remember my aunt wore shoes lol. We went into a swampy area, my uncle carried her through. Found Jenny and Shi treed.. (it took us about hour and half to get to the dogs) It wasnt that far of a distance Just getting through the swampy areas and the briars and such..
we all got muddy.. got out. ( I thought for sure that they wouldnt want to do another drop) I asked them if they wanted.. Both uncle and aunt was smiling from ear to ear and said YES..
So we went to another drop, they striked together.. off they went,, Jenny went deep so we sat in a field and talked.. It was nice. off we went again.. it was about 3 am when we found a nice spot to sit down and relax. My uncle told me he wants to do this again.. I could not believe my aunt, she wants to get the kids involve.. I am so thrilled about all of this..
I am happy that more of family is getting involved...
This is BEST sport to get families involved..

With the performance program as long as there is enough grand nites hunts like a oaks ,winter classic, state hunts, it would be worth it to still run your grand nite if he is really good try to qualify him for world hunt plus you got the pkc state races
